Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1003 — Emigration

By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, Rav Yehuda Leib[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter by which you inform me that your mother, you yourself, and your wife have already received settlement visas for Canada and are preparing to travel to that country.

May Hashem grant that the journey go well, that it lead you to your destination, and that you settle in the manner that suits you, materially and spiritually.

Before this journey, you will surely organize a chassidic farbrengen*[2]. Thus, you will not forget the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, according to which geographical distance must not provoke estrangement among chassidim*, chas v'shalom*. Even afterwards, one can remain attached. Even more, the bond between all can be still stronger, thanks to the etz chaim* constituted by the teaching of Chassidus* and conduct based on chassidic practices.

בטח ישמח אותו לשמוע שעבודתנו בצפון אפריקה הולכת ומתרחבת
ב״ה .מוסדותינו :הישיבות ,ישיבות קטנות ,ת״ת לבנים ות״ת לבנות,
השתלמויות ערב לעובדים ,וגם בית מדרש למורים התפרסמו ,ומספר
התלמידים עולה מיום ליום .כמו כן פונים אלינו מערים ומדינות שונות בכל
חלקי צפון אפריקה להרחיב את עבודתנו גם למקומות שהיא עדיין לא
מגיעה לשם לעת עתה.
זו באמת עבודה של הצלת נפשות ,כי בגלל העניות הגדולה מצד אחד,

וההשפעה של לעומת זה מהצד האחר ,נמצאים אלפי ואלפי ילדים באותן
מדינות בסכנה גדולה של ניתוקם ח״ו מיהדות.
משום כך חייב כל אחד להתאמץ ליטול חלק כמה שיותר בעבודה וגם
להשפיע על ידידים ומכרים שגם להם יהי׳ חלק בעבודה ,שעי״ז פותחים
צנורות לקבל את הברכות האלוקיות בגשמיות וברוחניות.
