To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Aryeh[1],

Greetings and brachos*,

I received in due time your letter, in which you tell me about the niggun* that your father taught you. He told you that this had been sung by the holy Rabbi Avraham "the Malach," son of the Maggid of Mezeritch, during Lecha Dodi[2]. You tell me that, if one comes to you, you can teach this niggun.

I thank you for the interest that you manifested in this way, and I will permit myself to take you at your word. We are presently occupied with the hilula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, which will be celebrated on 10 Shevat. After this date, I will ask a few talmidim*[3] to visit you. As you promised, you will teach them this niggun.

I hope that, when you have a piece of good news, you will not fail to communicate it to me, and I thank you for it in advance.

P.S.: I am enclosing suggestions on the practices to adopt[4], on the occasion of the hilula of my father-in-law.

בעתו קבלתי מכתב ,בו כותב אודות הזכור לו מניגון שאביו לימד

אותו ,וסיפר לו שאת הניגון שר הרב הקדוש ר׳ אברהם המלאך בנו של

המגיד ממעזריטש בלכה דודי ,ומציע שיבואו אליו וילמד את הניגון.

הנני מודה לו על ההתעניינות בזה ,ואקבל את הצעתו .הנני מקוה

שלאחר יום השנה של חמי כ״ק אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ זי״ע ,יו״ד שבט

)כי עד אז עסוקים בהכנות ליום השנה( ,אבקש אחדים מהתלמידים

שיבקרו אצלו ,וכהבטחתו ודאי ילמד אותם את הניגון.

הנני מקוה שכאשר תהי׳ לו בשורה טובה בעניניו יודיעני ותודה לו

מראש.
