Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1436 — Faith & Bitachon

By the grace of Hashem,

First day of Rosh Chodesh Adar 5712,

Brooklyn,

I greet and bless you,

A) I respond to your letter, in which you ask me, in the name of Mr. ..., the following question. He has been offered the opportunity to take over a business that corresponds to his field of activity. However, until now, he has been a salaried employee of someone else. Of course, if he acquires this business, he will become its owner and bear full responsibility for it. He has, however, good hope that his sons will join him in this activity. You ask my opinion.

It seems to me that this is a good proposal, on two conditions:

1) The business must be closed on Shabbos and Yom Tov.

2) It will not be necessary, in order to acquire it, for him to sell his house in order to take a rental, as you state in your letter. If these two conditions are met, he can hope for material hatzlachah*, with the help of Hashem. And Hashem will help him to make these material assets into ruchnius*[1], according to the well-known saying of the Alter Rebbe[2].

B) Please convey my regards to the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself faithfully to communal needs, Rav M. Ch. D. Halevi, meshulach* of the Sages[3]. You no doubt help him, to the full extent of your means, not only to collect funds, but also, and above all, to sow ruchnius.

Hashem will grant each one brachah* and hatzlachah in all your needs. See the Kuntres Limud HaChassidus at the end of perek 12, and Maseches Bava Metzia 2b: "In this case, we may say that there is no..."[4].

C) As we agreed when you were here, I hope that you maintain your study of the revealed part of Torah and of Chassidus. Doubtless, you make use, in this matter, of the influence you have over your cousin[5].

D) You have surely received the letter from my secretariat regarding the association of the Yeshiva talmidim*[6].

With my brachah of hatzlachah in your communal and personal occupations, that you very soon find a fitting shidduch*, materially and spiritually, and greeting all those who have been mentioned,

במענה על מכתבו, בו שואל בשם מר... באשר מציעים לו לקנות ביזנעס במקצוע שהוא מומחה בו אלא שעד עתה עבד במשרה אצל אחר, ומובן שאם יקנה הביזנעס שמציעים לו יהי' עומד ברשות עצמו וכל האחריות עליו, אבל יש לקוות שיוכל להכניס אז בהביזנעס גם את בניו שיחיו, ושואל חוו"ד בזה:

הנה לדעתי נכון הדבר, ובשני תנאים א) שהביזנעס יהי' סגור בש"ק ויו"ט, ב) שלא יצטרך למכור בשביל זה את ביתו ולדור בשל אחרים, מה שמזכיר במכתבו, ואם יקיים שני תנאים אלו, יש לקוות שבעזה"י יהי' להצלחה בגשמיות, ויעזרהו השי"ת שיעשה מהגשמיות רוחניות, וכפתגם הידוע של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בשם כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן...

ג) מטובו למוס' פ"ש להרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ באמונה וכו' מוהרמש"ד שי' הלוי שד"ר. ובטח מסייעהו בכל יכולתו, ופשיטא שכוונתי לא רק בענין אסיפת הגשמיות אלא ג"כ - בעיקר - בזריעת הרוחניות, והשי"ת יתן ברכתו והצלחתו לכאו"א בהמצטרך לו. ועיין [קונ'] לימוד החסידות ספי"ב ובב"מ (ב:) הכא איכא למימר דליכא כו'.

ד) בטח, מתאים למה שדברנו בהיותו פה, מתחזק בהשיעורים בנגלה ובדא"ח, ובל"ס אשר משתמש ג"כ בהשפעתו על בן דודו שי' בכיוון זה.

ה) מכתב המזכירות ע"ד את"ה בטח קיבל במועדו.

בברכת הצלחה בענינים הכללים ובעניניו הפרטיים ובזיווג המתאים לפניו בגו"ר בקרוב ממש, הפו"ש כהנ"ל.
