Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1443 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

First day of Rosh Chodesh Adar 5712,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

HaRav Moshe HaKohen[1],

I greet and bless you,

Our Sages emphasize that, from the beginning of the month of Adar, one increases in simchah*. According to the end of Maseches Taanis, this means in particular that one builds joyous edifices. And see, in the Mishnah, the conclusion of the assurance that "it[2] will be rebuilt speedily and in our days."

Such is the simchah of the Jewish neshamos* below, and that of HaKadosh Baruch Hu* above. And it is said that "the Kohanim*[3] serve Hashem in calmness and with joy of heart." They must therefore prepare for their avodas hakodesh*[4], speedily and in our days, with the true and complete geulah* through Moshiach Tzidkeinu*, amen.
