Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1448 — Chinuch

By the grace of Hashem,

2 Adar 5712,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the committee of the directors of Camp Torah,

may Hashem grant them long life,

I greet and bless you,

I heard with pleasure the words of your representatives, who visited me. They reported to me on the activity of your directors in Eretz HaKodesh* and on what you have accomplished thus far.

You asked me to participate, with a letter of brachah*, in your meeting that will take place on Sunday of Parshas Tetzaveh, "And you shall command... pure, beaten for the luminary."[1] I therefore accede to your request.

May Hashem grant that you penetrate yourselves with the deep awareness of the zechus* and of the duty that divine Hashgachah* has entrusted to you, allowing you to stand in a ray of light, that of Torah. You therefore have the zechus and the duty to labor for the proper chinuch* of Jewish children wherever they are found. You must in particular come to the aid of your brethren in Eretz HaKodesh, to rebuild what has been destroyed, to save the children of Yisrael, and especially the new immigrants, from an irreligious chinuch chas veshalom*, to enable them to bind themselves to Hashem in good schools where Torah and yiras Shamayim* are taught.

In your plan of action, there is doubtless a campaign carried out among the youth as well as their parents, so that each and every one within Bnei Yisrael, without any exception, can receive a chinuch based on Torah and kedushah*. And my father-in-law, the Rebbe, gave the assurance that an effort is never in vain.

May you yourselves, and the action of your hands, be pleasing to Hashem; may your action expand; may you strengthen and disseminate the spirit of Torah and of proper chinuch through concrete accomplishments, with the mesirus nefesh* that befits.

Through all this, Hashem will grant you brachah and hatzlachah* in your personal needs, a study of Torah filled with yiras Shamayim and its teaching, its observance and its practice. You will illuminate your surroundings with the light of Torah and its luminary.

יהי רצון מהשי"ת, אשר חדורים תהיו מההכרה העמוקה הזכות והחובה שהעמיסה עליכם ההשגחה העליונה, בזכותה אתכם לעוד בקרן אורה זו תורה הזכות והחובה לעבוד לטובת החינוך הכשר של בני ובנות ישררל בכל אתר ואתר, ובפרט להיות לעזר לאחיכם באה"ק ת"ו לתקן הנהרסות ולהציל בני ובנות ישרראל, וביחוד העולים החדשים, מחינוך של כפירה ר"ל, ולהכניסם תחת כנפי השיכנה במוסדות כשרים של תורה ביראת שמים.

בתכנית עבודתכם בטח נכנס גם התפקיד לעסוק בתעמולה, הן בין הנוער והן בין ההורים, אשר כל אחד ואחת מבני ובנות ישראל, בלי יוצא מן הכלל, יתחנכו על ברכי התורה על טהרת הקדש. וכבר אמר כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע: חזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם.

ויהי נועם ה' עליכם ומעשי ידיכם, להרבות חיל בעבודתכם להחזקת והפצת רוח התורה והחינוך הכשר בפעולות ממשיות ובמסירות הנכונה. ובגלל זה ישלח לכם השי"ת ברכה והצלחה בעיניכם הפרטיים, בלימוד התורה ביראת שמים ובללמדה, למשור ולעשות, ולהאיר את סביבתכם באור תורה ומאור שבתורה.
