Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure the third volume of the Talmudic Encyclopedia[2], by way of Mr. Bar Lev. I thank you for this precious gift.

I have not had time to examine it as would have been needed. Nevertheless, in leafing through it, a hasty review sufficed for me to note the immense work that has been invested in it, the research that has been done across the entire Talmudic literature, the early and the later Sages, including the most recent. And the quality of the author appears in this realization, whose plan is clear and whose style is pleasing.

Without a doubt, this book of great value will be a considerable contribution, especially in our time, in which the wellsprings of the Torah are unfortunately closed to many within our people. Many do not have time to undertake an in-depth study of the references.

A methodical book such as this therefore plays a fundamental role. One will easily find in it what one is seeking. The references are, moreover, indicated for those who wish a deeper study. Furthermore, there is here an inexhaustible treasure for all who study the Torah and devote themselves to it.

May the strength you devote to the Torah enable you to see the finished product of your work.

בנועם קבלתי כרך ג' של אנציקלופדי' תלמודית על ידי מר בר לב שי', ותשואות חן לכת"ר עבור התשורה היקרה.

אף שלא הי' הזמן גרמא לעיין בו בעיון הדרוש, אבל בכל זה בדפדפי בו, הנה גם בסקירה ראשונה ניכרת בו עבודה כבירה ומחקר רב בכל הספרות התלמודית, ראשונים ואחרונים ואחרוני אחרונים, וניכר בם כח הפועל בנפעל בסדר הטוב וצחות הלשון.

בלי ספק אשר ספר רב ערך זה יביא תועלת מרובה, ובפרט בתקופתנו אנו, אשר בעוה"ר אוצרות התורה סתומים לכמה וכמה מבני עמנו, ורבים אין שעתם פנוי' להתעמק במקורות וכו', הנה תפקיד חשוב ממלא ספר מסודר כזה, אשר בקל ימצאו בו תמצית המבוקש והמקורות מצויינים בו לכל הרוצה להתעמק בהם, נוסף על זה שהוא אוצר בלום בעד לומדי תורה והעוסקים בה.
