Greetings and blessings,

A) I have indeed received your letter of 9 Iyar, in which you share with me your bitterness at not receiving a reply from me to your letters. I have already written to several chassidim* that I endeavor to satisfy their requests to the extent of my possibilities, and to read, as quickly as possible, their request for a blessing at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. By contrast, conveying the fact that this has been done does not depend entirely on me, owing to my many occupations, the disappointments, and the numerous letters I receive.

May Hashem therefore satisfy each one's needs and grant them success in time and in the service of Hashem. And whoever feels bitterness should know that this feeling is not founded, since no lack has been caused to them. It is, in fact, I who am short of time.

B) You tell me that a shidduch* has been proposed for your daughter, then that everything came to a halt, and you ask me what I think. She will soon be seventeen, and you do not know whether to think immediately about her engagement or to wait.

In my opinion, one must not adopt a clear-cut position one way or the other. One must look into it and do so calmly, without hurrying. When the time comes, Hashem will surely show you what is to be done in the matter.

You ask me whether one should specifically seek a talmid* of the Lubavitcher yeshivah*. It does not seem to me that one must be exclusive to that point. It suffices that the one proposed to you be capable of becoming a talmid* of this yeshivah* — that is, that he be capable of setting aside fixed time for the study of the revealed part of the Torah and for Chassidus*, and of adopting the customs and practices of chassidim*. Thus one may hope that, receiving the appropriate influence from your daughter and from chassidim*, he will adopt the conduct of a talmid* of the yeshivah*.

As you know, I have already told the chassidim* of your city that you should publish, from time to time, articles in the national newspapers, especially before the festivals. These could be explanations of Chassidus*, judiciously chosen Chassidic stories. For the moment has finally come to push back the darkness throughout the entire world, even into its smallest recesses. After this one prepares for the long-awaited day, when "the night will shine like the day."

I extend my blessing that you may earn your livelihood amply, that you may know success in your sacred mission and in your communal concerns, and that you may conceive, with your wife, Jewish and Chassidic satisfaction from all your children.

קבלתי מכתבו מט' אייר, בו כותב שיש לו עגמ"נ מזה שאין לו מענה ממני על מכתביו, והנה כבר כתבתי לכמה מאנ"ש שי' אשר משתדל הנני למלאות את בקשותיהם כפי יכולתי וכן לקרוא את הפ"נ שלהם על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בהקדם, אבל בנוגע לההודעה עד"ז הנה אין זה תלוי כ"כ בי, מפני רוב הטרדה והעגמ"נ וריבוי המכתבים המתקבלים ויה"ר מהשי"ת אשר יצליח בזמן ובעבודה למלאות רצון כאו"א גם בזה, ובכ"א אם יש להם עגמ"נ, אין לזה כל יסוד כי אין זה החסרון בהם, אלא במה שאין די זמן אצלי וכו'.

ב) במ"ש שהנכבדות שהציעו לבתו תחי' נפסק הדבר, ושואל דעתי, כיון שבקרוב יתמלאו לה טו"ב שנה, אם לחשוב כעת אודות שידוך עבורה או לחכות:

הנה לדעתי, אין כדאי לאחוז באחד משני הקצוות, אלא להיות מעונין בזה וצ"ל בניחותא, ושלא בחפזון, ובטח לעת הראוי יראה השי"ת דרך בנוגע לענין זה.

כן בשאלתו אם להשתדל דוקא אודות תמים, אין הדיוק בזה נראה לי ובלבד שיהי' המוצע בציור כזה שאפשר לעשותו לתמים, היינו שיהי' שייך לקביעות עתים בתורה הנגלה ובתורת החסידות והנהגה בדרכי החסידים ומנהגי', אשר אז יש לקוות שבהשפעה המתאימה מבתו והשפעת אנ"ש שי' יעשה לתמים.

... כידוע לכ' כבר העירותי את אנ"ש שי' במחנם, אשר צריכים היו להשתמש ולנצל את העתונים המופיעים במדינתם לפרסם בהם מזמן לזמן ובפרט לפני החגים ומועדים, ענינים מתורת החסידות וסיפורי החסידים המתאימים לכיוון זה, והרי סוף סוף בא העת לדחות את החשך בכל קצוי תבל ובכל פנותי' אשר זהו הכנה והקדמה לאותו היום המקווה, אשר לילה כיום יאיר.

בברכה לפרנסה בהרחבה והצלחה בעבודתו בקדש בענינים הציבוריים ולרוב נחת אידישן נחת חסידישן נחת מכל יו"ח ביחד עם זוגתו שיחיו וברכה לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
