Greetings and blessings,
You tell me that your brother will never accept certain aspects of the practice of mitzvos*. One must hope that this is only the line he is taking now. Subsequently, when the young woman[1] raises the subject with him, when you yourself and the friends who will help you also speak to him about it, he will end up drawing nearer, little by little.
The verse indeed states that "I will drive him[2] out little by little." Nevertheless, one must clearly show him that this is not a war and that one is not seeking to defeat him.
I hope that you will soon be able to give me good news on this matter.

... ומה שמבאר במכתבו שיש ענינים בנוגע למצות מעשיות שאחיו לא יותר ע"ז, הנה יש לקוות שאין זה אלא דבריו עתה, אבל במשך הזמן כשהמדוברת תדבר עמדו עד"ז וכן הוא מצדו והידידים שיבקש ג"כ יסייעו בדבורים כאלו, הנה סוכ"ס יתקרב לאט לאט וכמ"ש לאט לאט אגרשנו ואך שיש להזהר לא להראות לאחיו שזה ענין של מלחמה או שרוצים לנצחו כמובן, ואקוה שבקרב הימים יוכל להודיעני בשו"ט בזה...
