By the grace of Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

You speak to me of those who complain of having recently been confronted with business difficulties. Perhaps they limited, last year, their participation in the tzedakah* devoted to the Torah and to yiras Shamayim*. It would be good for them to increase this participation, in the future, in a proportion that seems to them above what it should really be.

Our Sages give us the following assurance: "Tithe, in order that you become rich"[1]. With regard to the mitzvah* of tzedakah* in particular, Hashem says: "Test Me, please, in this matter."

Likewise, it would be good that the women, before lighting the candles on the eve of Shabbos and the festivals, set aside a small sum for the tzedakah* of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess[2].

Hashem will grant them success, as well as to the women and the children, in all that they have need of. They will all receive the Torah, in a joyous and deep manner, together with all the people of Israel.

... ומש"כ לי שמתאוננים הם שבזמן האחרון, העסקים שלהם הולכים בקושי, הנה אפשר שבשנה העברה צמצמו במקצת בנתינת הצדקה לעניני תורה ויראת שמים, ולכן מהראוי שמכאן ולהבא יוסיפו בזה, ובמדה שנראית בעיניהם שהוא למעלה מהמגיע מהם, וידועה הבטחת הקב"ה, עשר בשביל שתתעשר, ובמצות הצדקה בפרט הרי אומר השי"ת, ובחנוני נא בזאת.

כן מהראוי אשר הנשים שלהם תחי' הנה קודם הדלקת נרות בכל עש"ק וערב יום טוב, יתנו איזה סכום (קטן) לצדקת רבי מאיר בעל הנס - רמבעה"ן - והשי"ת יצליחם אותם נשיהם בניהם ובנותיהם שיחיו בהמצטרך להם, ויזכו כולם לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות בתוך כלל ישראל.
