By the grace of Hashem,

You write to me that your fiancée is the daughter of a Kohen*. In accordance with the opinion of our Sages, you must therefore intensify your study and your Torah classes, in order to draw closer to the title of talmid chacham*[1], at least to the measure of your means.

You do not tell me when you have set the date of the wedding, which will be at a good and fruitful moment. It would be good, in addition to the classes I have just recalled, that you endeavor to study the six orders of the Mishnah*, if there still remain a few months before the wedding, and one or two orders, if it is near.

In any event, you will learn the tractate Kallah*[2]. May Hashem grant that your union be celebrated at a good and fruitful moment, with mazel tov*.

אינו כותב למתי קבעו זמן הנשואין בשעה טובה ומוצלחת, ומהראוי אשר נוסף על שיעוריו הנ"ל ישתדל לגמור את המשניות כל הששה סדרים אם יש עדיין איזה חדשים עד זמן החתונה, או עכ"פ סדר אחד או שנים אם זמן החתונה בקרוב, ובכל אופן ילמוד מסכת כלה. ויתן השי"ת שיהי' הכל בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ולמזל טוב.
