Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1609 — Chinuch
Volume 6 · Letter 81 · To: distingué ‘Hassid qui craint D.ieu
By the grace of Hashem,
3 Sivan 5712,
Brooklyn,
To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and faithfully discharges his mission,
Rav Yaakov HaCohen[1],
Greetings and blessings,
I hope that we will have a telephone conversation on the eve of the festival[2], if Hashem wills. Nevertheless, basing myself on the principle, set forth in our books, according to which what receives concrete application is more solid, I would like to express to you, by the present, my blessing on the occasion of the festival of Shavuos*.
My father-in-law, the Rebbe, was accustomed to wishing, before this festival of Shavuos*, that one receive the Torah with joy and depth. This will be the case for you, your wife, and your children, with tranquility of spirit and body, so that you may develop your positive actions for the Torah, the fear of Hashem, and benevolence.
The Torah specifies that one must know elevation in all that is linked to holiness, and "to whoever increases[3], one adds[4]" in all the needs that you may experience, with the members of your family, in all domains, material and spiritual.
With my blessing for the festival,
