Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter in its time, and I noted in it your moral situation and your projects for the future. But, in the end, you have made the right decision to remain at the yeshivah* and to pursue your studies there. You ask me what I think of it.

It is quite clear that your decision is very good and perfectly judicious, not only from a spiritual point of view, but also materially, as we have been able to verify, particularly during these last years. How just are the words of our Sages, affirming that a man does not know how he will provide for his needs.

In a general way, those who conceive various reasonings to try to prepare themselves, down to the smallest detail, to make their way in life, do not know success. For what concerns you personally, my opinion is quite clear. Your success and your good, material and spiritual at the same time, are conditioned upon the pursuit of your studies at the Lubavitcher yeshivah* of Lod.

You will therefore penetrate yourself with the spirit of Chassidus* and you will acquire determination, true determination, but without obstinacy, chas veshalom*, which is so necessary for a Jew, at all times and, in particular, at the present time.

The great merit of your father and of your grandfather will enable you to establish the truth as quickly as possible, to observe it with your eyes of flesh. Hashem will grant you to study the Torah in fearing Hashem, and you will know success, in the most literal sense.

It is therefore necessary to study much, to understand well, to penetrate oneself deeply with this teaching. This will be the channel and the receptacle for obtaining the satisfaction of all your needs, material and spiritual.

With my blessing to study the Torah in fearing Hashem and to receive it with joy and depth,

N.B.: In your letter, you do not speak of your mother. No doubt she is well. You will transmit to her my blessing for a joyous festival of Shavuos* and that she may have much satisfaction from you, a Jewish and Chassidic satisfaction, with tranquility of spirit and body at the same time.

שלום וברכה!

בעתו קבלתי מכתבו, בו כותב לי מצב רוחו והסברא שהי' אצלו בענין סידורו על להבא, אבל סוף דבר החליט לטובה להשאר בהישיבה ולהמשיך לימודו, ושואל חוות דעתי בזה:

הנה ברור הדבר אשר החלטתו טובה ונכונה במאד, ונכונה לא רק מפני ענין הרוחניות אלא גם בגשמיות, וראינו זה במוחש ובפרט בשנים האחרונות, עד כמה נאמנו דברי רז"ל שאין אדם יודע במה משתכר, והחשבונות שעושים בפרט פרטיות איך להכין את עצמו לדרכו בחיים, הנה ברובא דרובא אינם מצליחים, וביחוד בנוגע אליו הנה דעתי ברורה אשר הצלחתו וטובתו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד, היא שימשיך בלימודו בישיבת תו"ת בלוד ויספוג בנפשו רוח חסידות ותוקף הדעת תוקף אמיתי (בלי עקשנות ח"ו) הדרוש כ"כ לאיש הישראלי בכל עת בכלל ובפרט בימינו אלה, וגדולה זכות אביו וא"ז למהר הדבר באופן שיכיר ויראה את טובתו בזה במוחש גם בעיני בשר, והשי"ת יזכהו לתלמוד תורה ביראת שמים ובהצלחה כפשוטה, לערנען אסך, פארשטיין גוט, און נעמען גרונטיק ובפנימיות, וזה יהי' ג"כ הצנור והכלי להמשכת כל המצטרך לו ברוחניות ובגשמיות.

בברכת ת"ת ביר"ש וקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.

נ"ב: אינו מזכיר במכתבו ע"ד אמו תחי' ובטח השלום אתה, וימסור לה ברכתי לחג שבועות שמח ולקבל רב נחת אידישן נחת חסידישן נחת ממנו מתוך מנוחת הנפש ומנוחת הגוף גם יחד.
