Greetings and blessings,

A) I have indeed received your letter of 25 Iyar and I thank you for the good news it contained, the fact that the persons about whom I had inquired are doing better.

B) You evoke the discouragement of... The merit and the obligation of lifting their morale incumbent upon the older chassidim*. Moreover, they must encourage them, tell them that if Hashem causes them to suffer by imposing on them difficulties for earning their living, He thereby enables them to be in good health. Their material situation will therefore also improve. Their worry is stronger than it should be, whereas they should, on the contrary, rejoice over the exchange[1] thus practiced.

Joy breaks all limits, and they will therefore cease to be worried. Thus, they will earn their living amply and will, moreover, have good health. They will surely find the appropriate words and the propitious moment to encourage them.

On the occasion of the time of the giving of our Torah, I extend my blessing to you and, through your intermediary, to your talmidim* and to those who follow you, to receive it with joy and depth.

N.B.: The expression "to receive the Torah with joy and depth" is the text of the blessing that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, gave for the festival of Shavuos*.

The Sefer HaMaamarim* 5709[2] has just appeared. It comprises all the Chassidic discourses delivered during that year. I have therefore proposed to the chassidim* to study, during this month, the days that precede it and those that follow it, the discourses of Shavuos* 5709, as well as the talks and the letters that appear in pamphlet 66[3], that of Shavuos* 5709. You will kindly disseminate this message among the chassidim*.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ה אייר, ות"ח על הבשו"ט אשר בו מהטבת מצב בריאות אלו ששאלתי אודותם.

ב) מ"ש ע"ד נפילת הרוח של... הנה הזכות והחובה מוטלת על זקני אנ"ש לעודד את רוחם, ואדרבה לעודדם אשר כיון שמייסר אותם השי"ת בדאגות של פרנסה ותמורת זה הנה הולך מצב בריאות... הלוך וטוב ובטח גם בענין הפרנסה הנה יש בזה דאגה יותר מאשר הענין דורש ומחייב, הנה עליהם להיות בשמחה מתמורה וחילוף זה, ושמחה פורץ גדר אשר יבטלו ג"כ הדאגות מעליהם ויזכו לפרנסה בהרחבה, נוסף על בריאות הנכונה...

ובודאי ימצאו אותיות המתאימות וזמן המתאים לעידוד זה.

... ולקראת זמן מ"ת הבע"ל, הנני בזה לברך אותו ועל ידו את תלמידיו ומושפעיו לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.

נ"ב: נוסח זה "לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות" הוא נוסח ברכת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר לחג שבועות.

באשר יצא לאור עתה ספר המאמרים תש"ט, הכולל המאמרים דשנת הנ"ל הנה הצעתי לאנ"ש... שילמדו בחדש זה ובימים דלפניו ולאחריו, מאמרי שבועות תש"ט וכן השיחות והמכתבים שנדפסו בקונט' דשבועות תש"ט הוא קונטרס ס"ו, ומטובו לפרסם את זה בתוככי אנ"ש שיחיו.
