Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter of Rosh Chodesh* Sivan, by which you announce to me good news. You tell me that you have entered the second month of your pregnancy. No doubt, as I told your father when he was here, you endeavor, to the extent possible, not to spread word of your state, "until the entry into the fifth month," in the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe[1].

I formulate the following propositions:

A) You will surely conform to the prescriptions of the doctors whom you have consulted and who know you, for everything concerning your dietary regimen and to avoid efforts that are too great.

B) You will check all the mezuzos* of your house and you will replace those that are not kosher with kosher ones.

C) You will maintain the positive custom of Jewish women, which consists of setting aside tzedakah* for the fund of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess, before lighting the candles, on the eve of Shabbos and the festivals.

D) Your husband, the Rav, will scrupulously observe the daily reading of Tehillim*, according to its monthly division, at least until the birth, which will take place at a good and fruitful moment. In the bedtime Shema*, before the blessing Hamapil, he will also read the Psalm "Lamenatzeach... Yaancha"[2]. After having read it entirely, he will say a second time the verse "Yaancha..."[3] and will ask Hashem, in thought, to be considered as if he had had all the necessary thoughts during this reading.

May Hashem grant that your pregnancy be easy, that it conclude in its time, and that you easily give birth to a healthy child.

במענה על מכתבה מר"ח סיון, בו מודיעה בשו"ט אשר נכנסה בחדש השני להריונה לפ"ע, ובטח כפי שדברתי עם אבי' שי' כשהי' כאן, הנה כפי האפשרי אינה מפרסמת עד"ז, וכלשון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, עד שתכנס לחדש החמישי, והצעתי: א) בטח תמלא כפי הוראת הרופאים - שביקרה אצלם, ושיודעים אותה מכבר - בעיני אכילה ושתי', טרחה יתירה וכו', ב) יבדקו כל המזוזות בביתם ויחליפו האינן כשרות בכשרות, ג) תחזיק במנהג הטוב של בנות ישראל להפריש צדקה לקופת רבי מאיר בעל

הנס - רמבעה"ן - לפני הדלקת נרות בעש"ק וערב יו"ט, ד) בעלה הרב שי' יתחזק לשמור השיעור תהלים בכל יום (כפי שנחלק לימי החדש) לכל הפחות עד אחר הלידה בשעה טובה ומוצלחת, וכן בק"ש שעל המטה לפני ברכת המפיל יאמר הקאפיטל תהלים: למנצח יענך וכו', ואחר שיגמרנו יאמר עוד הפעם הפסוק יענך וכו' ויעלה במחשבתו אשר כל אותן הכוונות שצריכים, בעת מעשה זו, לכוון יה"ר כאילו כיוונם, והשי"ת יתן ויהי' הריון שלה בנקל ויוגמר בעתו ובזמנו ותלד ולד זחו"ק כשורה בעתה ובנקל.
