Greetings and blessings,

I was pained to learn that you were panicked, that you ran to the doctors all day long, while all this was without foundation. My astonishment also bears upon your husband, the Rav. Why must he make use of his eagerness where this quality is useless?

If eagerness is, in a general way, a virtue, panic is, on the contrary, always a defect. Moreover, eagerness can also be misplaced. You must therefore have trust in Hashem, Who creates, perpetuates, and gives life to the world and what it contains, in particular a Jew or a Jewess, belonging to the "people that is close to Him."

Hashem will send you good health, and, with your husband, the Rav, you will educate your son to the Torah, to the chuppah*, and to good deeds. Certainly, it is fitting that everything have a receptacle within the natural ways. One must therefore consult the doctor and conform to his prescription. On the other hand, becoming passionate about it, discussing it, analyzing the opinion of the doctors, awakening in oneself a deep interest in medical principles, is conceivable only on the part of those whose profession it is, so that they can assume it in the best conditions, in conformity with the injunction of the Torah which says: "Heal, he shall heal"[1].

On the contrary, those who are not doctors must make use of their intellect and of the understanding that Hashem has granted them for the Torah and the mitzvos*[2], or even for permitted matters, which it is possible to transform into a mitzvah*. Worry and bitterness, on the other hand, are harmful to physical health as well as to moral health. They prevent the carrying out of the role and mission with which one is entrusted here below.

May Hashem grant you, as well as your husband, the Rav, to display all the characteristics of the "hasty people"[3], for all that concerns the Torah and the mitzvos*, while you display sang-froid and phlegm in all other domains[4]. Thus, you will know material and spiritual success.

שימח אותי לשמוע ,שהן מתעסקות במשימה החשובה של בניית
מקוה כשר ומודרני בעירן ,ושביום ראשון הבא אי״ה מתקיימת יוזמה
מיוחדת למטרה זו.
הנני מנצל את ההזדמנות לברכן ולאחל להן הצלחה להגיע לגמר טוב
ביוזמה ,ומה שעוד יותר חשוב ,להפיץ את הרעיון ואת ההכרה ,שטהרת
המשפחה היא בעלת חשיבות חיונית ,שלא יתכנו חיים יהודיים בלעדי זה.
רעיון זה מוכרח להיות מופץ ללא הרף בין הנשים היהודיות בטורונטו
וסביבותי׳.
בימים אלו שלאחר חג השבועות ,זמן מתן תורתנו ,ודאי מיותר
להזכיר להן ,שבקבלת התורה היו הנשים הראשונות אליהן פנה הקב״ה ע״י
משה רבינו .זה מוכיח ,שכדי להבטיח את נצחיות התורה מוכרחות נשי
ישראל למלא את חובתן במסירות ובחיות .וזה חשוב במיוחד בענין טהרת
המשפחה ,שהוא אחד היסודות העיקריים של קיום כל עם ישראל,
ומהתנאים להשראת השכינה בישראל שלשם כך נדרשת קדושה וטהרה
)והי׳ מחנך קדוש(.
למרות שיוזמתן היא מקומית ,הרי זה ,כאמור לעיל ,נוגע לכל כלל
ישראל ,לכן רצוני להשתתף בתרומה סמלית ,ומצו״ב המחאה למטרה
קדושה זו.
