I have already given my opinion and said that the older students of the Yeshivah of Lod must work so that this institution may be qualified as a yeshivah gedolah*, both by the study of the revealed part of Torah and by that of Chassidus*. Such is their role, and it is precisely this mission that has been entrusted to them. They therefore have the possibility of carrying it out, and not of preoccupying themselves with other places, of seeking to travel to different countries to pursue their studies there.

Of course, every principle also has its exceptions. In this matter, it falls to the direction of the yeshivah to decide what may be defined as such. In such a case, one will consult the direction of the yeshivah here in order to obtain a study visa.

Nevertheless, success is more probable for the students who will remain in place, in the Holy Land, and who will try, with all their forces, to act so that the Yeshivah Lubavitch of Lod may be worthy of its name and of the energies invested in it by our holy Rebbeim, who founded it and who direct it.

... הנה כבר גליתי דעתי, שהתלמידים הקשישים דישיבת לוד עליהם להשתדל לעשות את הישיבה בתואר ישיבה גדולה, הן בתורת הנגלה והן בתורת החסידות, כי זהו תפקידם ושליחותם, ובמילא הרי ניתנה להם היכול[ת] על זה, ולא לחפש מקומות אחרים בנסיעות למדינות אחרות ללמוד שם.

כמובן אשר בכל כלל יש גם יוצא מן הכלל, ובזה על הנהלת הישיבה להחליט אם יוצא הוא מכלל זה, ואזי עליהם לפנות להנהלת הישיבה כאן ע"ד שילוח אפידייוויט, אבל [...] הצל[ח]ה צפוי' יותר לאלו התלמידים שיהיו על אתר באה"ק ת"ו, וית[א]זרו בזה בעוז לע[ש]ות [א]ת הישיבה תומכי תמימים אשר בלוד מתאימה לשמה ולהכחות אשר השקיעו בה מיסדי' ומנהלי' הם כ"ק נשיאינו רבוה"ק זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
