To the directors of the yeshivah and Talmud Torah*
of Sefriya Kfar Chabad,
may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received the twenty-six dossiers,[1] with the photographs of the directors of the yeshivah and the Talmud Torah*, as well as those of the students. Their faces permit one to establish that they have received the blessing of Hashem.

I saw in these dossiers that the rubric "aptitudes for the revealed part of Torah and for Chassidus*" had not been filled in. No doubt you consider that these students are too young to study Chassidus*.

A portion of the students are Sefardim who, until now, have had the habit of leaving the yeshivah very young. Moreover, the children of Sefardim develop their intellectual capacities before those of the Ashkenazim. Finally, the negative influences current in the world make it necessary to accustom oneself, as quickly as possible, to studying Chassidus*.

It would be good, in my opinion, to begin the study of Chassidus* with all the students who have reached the age of twelve. Even before reaching this age, one should accustom them to the practices of Chassidus* and to its customs. One will succeed at this more pleasantly by recounting to them stories from the lives of our Rebbeim, in the course of a chassidic* gathering.

Of course, at such a gathering intended for children, it is in no way necessary to drink mashke*. One can content oneself with beer, soda, or similar beverages.

I would like to know whether you organize Mesibos Shabbos*[2] for your students. Are there, among the students, some who are already capable of explaining to their friends the necessity of studying our holy Torah, of observing its mitzvos*, and of engaging themselves in its ways?

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי כ"ו גליונות בצירוף תמונותיהם של הנהלת הישיבה והת"ת והתלמידים שיחיו, שהכרת פניהם ענתה בם כי זרע ברך ה' המה.

ראיתי בהגליונות אשר בשורת השאלה: כשרונותיהם בנגלה ובדא"ח לא נרשם מאומה, וכנראה אשר זהו מפני שחושבים שבהגיל שלהם עדי[י]ן מוקדם ללמוד חסידות.

והנה בהתאם לזה אשר חלק חשוב מהתלמידים הם מהספרדים, אשר ע"ע היתה הנהגתם לעזוב כתלי הישיבה בגיל מוקדם, ב) אשר כשרונות ילדי הספרדים מתבגרים בהקדם לערך כשרונות ילדי האשכנזים, ג) אשר בהתאם להרוחות הנושבות בעולם צריך להקדים ככל האפשר ההרגל בלימוד החסידות,

הנה לדעתי הי' מהנכון אשר כל אלו שהגיעו לגיל י"ב שנה יש להתחיל עמהם לימוד החסידות, וגם בגיל קודם לזה להרגילם בדרכי החסידות והנהגותי' ולהנעים את זה על ידי סיפורים מחיי נשיאינו רבותינו הקדושים זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ומתוך התועדות.

מובן שההתועדות לנערים בגיל זה אינה צריכה להיות בשתית יי"ש, ויש להסתפק בשכר או גם בגזז וכהאי גונא.

אתענין לדעת אם מסדרים מסבות שבת בשביל תלמידיהם ואם יש כבר מבין התלמידים כאלו המעוררים את חבריהם וחברותיהם על ההכרחיות ללמוד תורתנו הק' ולשמור מצותי' וללכת בדרכי'.
