fear Hashem and devote themselves to communal

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter describing, though very briefly, the chassidic farbrengen* of Shabbos 12 Tammuz. It is regrettable that it was short, but no doubt its content was meaningful and good deeds will issue from it in the three areas of Torah, tefillah* and gemilus chassadim*, for all those around you.

I read with dismay in your letter that the mikveh* of your city[3] is not yet repaired. It does indeed seem that this is the only one in the city. One must therefore find a way to honor... so that he gives the authorization to make these repairs, at least the most indispensable ones.

You mention reciting Gemara* by heart[4]. I have heard that one adopts such a practice for Mishnah and Tanya. May Hashem grant you success, that you fix a time to study Torah and to teach it publicly, in particular underlining the conduct one must adopt in daily practice.

The most appropriate framework for this is the study of the laws of the Siddur in the Shaar HaKollel, or the study of the abridgement of the Shulchan Aruch. For the concrete deed is paramount.

I enclose the note that was published for the auspicious days of 12-13 Tammuz. You will make it available to as many as possible.

בנועם קבלתי המכתב ע"ד ההתועדות - אף כי בקיצור נמרץ - בש"ק י"ב תמוז, וחבל על הקיצור דההתועדות, ויה"ר שיהי' עכ"פ מועט המחזיק את המרובה, להביא פעולות טובות בשלשת הקוים דתורה עבודה וגמ"ח בכל סביבתם.

נבהלתי לקרות במכ' ע"ד בלתי תקון המקוה שבמחנם, וכנראה אשר זוהי המקוה היחידה אשר בעיר ובטח יש למצוא דרך לכבד את... ובלבד שיניח לעשות את התקונים, עכ"פ היותר מוכרחים.

מ"ש במכ' ע"ד חזרת גמרא בע"פ, הנה מה ששמעתי הוא חזרת משניות בע"פ ותניא בע"פ. והשי"ת יצליחו לקבוע עתים לתורה ולשיעורי לימוד ברבים, ובפרט להורות את המעשה אשר יעשון בחיי היום יומי, אשר היותר מתאים לזה הוא לימוד דינים אם מהסידור בשער הכולל או קיצור שו"ע וכיו"ב, ועשי' לעילא.
