Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter of Wednesday of Parshas Pinchas, in which you inform me of your present situation. You now have the possibility of partnering with your brother-in-law. Thus, you will be able to begin observing Shabbos yourself. You also ask me for a blessing to find a good buyer for the house you are putting up for sale, so that you may bring your share to this partnership.

I am dismayed to read all this in the letter of a Yid. All the children of Yisroel are believers and the sons of believers, and if you wish to accept my opinion and my counsel, you must immediately observe Shabbos, without waiting for this partnership to be concluded. If you do not impose conditions on Hashem, if you do not make the observance of Shabbos contingent on the sale of your house, you will receive an increased blessing and you will have greater success, enabling you to provide amply for the satisfaction of your needs.

Draw up, then, a personal cheshbon hanefesh*, and ask yourself what results from the lack of Shabbos observance for your children. Even if, for the moment, they say nothing about it, their minds are no less marked by it.

When I find myself at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, I will mention your name, that your request may be granted, that you may settle as quickly as possible so as not to be subject to any test concerning Shabbos observance, that you accept my request and observe Shabbos, the Torah and the mitzvos* without further delay. You know that, with a Yid, the material and the spiritual are interdependent, as it is said: "If you walk in My statutes, I shall give your rains in their time."

You say nothing in your letter about the chinuch* of your daughter and your son. It is unnecessary to specify that they must receive a Jewish chinuch* in the full sense of the term.

It would be good to have the mezuzos* of your house checked, in order to make sure they are all kosher. And you will arrange to read each day a few Tehillim, insofar as possible according to their monthly division or even weekly.

The donation you sent here was assigned to bikur cholim*. May Hashem send you moral healing, that you may be whole in the observance of the 248 positive mitzvos and the 365 prohibitions. Thus your 248 limbs and 365 sinews will be in good health. I await good news from you in all these areas.

במענה על מכתבו מד' פנחס, בו מודיע על דבר מצבו עתה, ואשר יש עתה יכולת לעשות שותפות עם גיסו שי' ואז יעשה גם הוא שומר שבת ומבקש ברכה שימצא קונה טוב על הבית שברצונו למכור, בכדי שיוכל להכנס להשותפות:

הנה נבהלתי לקרות כזה במכתב יהודי, שכל ישראל מאמינים בני מאמינים, ואם לדעתי ועצתי ישמע, הנה תיכף ומיד יעשה לשומר שבת, מבלי לחכות על גמר השותפות, וזה גופא אשר לא יעמיד תנאים להשי"ת (שבתחלה ימכור את ביתו ואח"כ ישמור את הש"ק) הרי זה גופא ימשיך לו תוספת ברכה והצלחה שיוכל למצוא פרנסתו בהרחבה.

ויתבונן אליבא דנפשי', איזה פעולה עושה ענין זה (העדר שמירת השבת), על ילידיהם שיחיו, ואף אם לעת עתה אין הם מדברים על דבר זה, אבל בטח נשאר זה בזכרונם וכו' וכו'.

כשאהי' על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אזכירו למילוי בקשתו שיוכל להסתדר בהקדם היותר אפשרי בענין פרנסה שלא יעמידו כלל בנסיון דשמירת השבת, ולמילוי בקשתי, שיעשה ליהודי שומר שבת ותורה ומצוה תיכף ומיד, וידוע אשר אצל איש הישראלי, הנה הגשמיות והרוחניות הם קשורים ומאוחדים, וכמ"ש אם בחקותי תלכו וגו' ונתתי גשמיכם בעתם וגו'.

אינו מזכיר במכתבו על דבר אופן חנוך בתו... ובנו... שיחיו, ולמותר להעיר על ההכרח שיקבלו חנוך יהודי במלא מובן המלה.

מהנכון הי' לבדוק כל המזוזות שבביתו שיהיו כולם כשרות, ויסתדר לומר בכל יום איזה קאפיטלעך תהלים, ומה טוב אם יהי' כמו שנחלק - התהלים - לימי החדש או לימי השבוע.

נדבתו ששלח הנה נמסרה לקופת בקור חולים והשי"ת ירפאהו רפואת הנפש שיהי' בריא ושלם ברמ"ח מצות עשה ושס"ה מצות לא תעשה אשר זה ממשיך בריאות השלימה ברמ"ח אברים ושס"ה גידים, ואחכה לבשורות טובות בכל הנ"ל,
