By the grace of Hashem,

To the honorable great Rav, chassid who fears Hashem

and renders judgment, a man of zeal, of many

accomplishments, Rav Shaul Danan[1],

rav and av beis din* of Rabat,

Greetings and blessings,

I received your precious letter and was pleased to have good news of the institutions Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch, which bear the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, the tzaddik* who is the pillar of the world. For "Yosef sustains the entire land" and "Yitzchok goes out to pray in the field, toward evening"[2], when the forces of evil rise up, chas veshalom*, for they wish to darken the brilliance of "the sun and its sheath, which are Hashem Elokim." And our Sages recall that tefillah*, prayer, is of the same etymology as the expression "one who repairs and binds (tofel) a clay vessel," attaching dust of the earth to our Father Who is in Heaven.

I ask of Hashem and am convinced that his merit[3] will protect for eternity all those who come to the aid of and bring their participation to his holy actions. I am persuaded that you and those who benefit from your influence will extend a charitable hand, as you have always done until now and as you will continue to do in the future, with the considerable powers Hashem grants to all those who lead a community.

It is said that the word of the king can uproot a mountain. Now, who are the kings? They are the Sages. They thus remove the mountain rising between the Jews and their Father Who is in Heaven, on account of our sins, during this particularly dark period of golus*, when the influence of the north[4] appears, to the tzaddikim, as an insurmountable mountain[5].

May Hashem grant us His help, that very soon may be fulfilled the promise that "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Hashem, as the waters cover the seabed." Then "we shall see with our eyes the return of Hashem to Tzion," through our righteous Moshiach*, very soon and in our days, Amen.

In reply to your question. You ask whether one can find, in the United States, the books of the Beis Yosef and that of the Rambam, and their prices in the local currency. It is difficult to procure the Tur Beis Yosef. By contrast, one can acquire the Shulchan Aruch—Even HaEzer, Choshen Mishpat and Orach Chaim—for forty-four dollars, and the Yoreh Deah for about thirty dollars. The Rambam costs fifty-six dollars. Such are the prices charged by the booksellers here.

You write me that you need four copies. If it is difficult for you to pay for all four, I will ask the Merkaz LeInyanei Chinuch* to send you, free of charge, one of the four, as a gift, provided you write me to indicate your agreement.

יקרת אגרתו קבלתי, ונהניתי לקבל פ"ש מעבודתם הטובה של המוסדות אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש הדוגלים בשם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, צדיק יסוד עולם, יוסף הוא המשביר לכל הארץ, ויצא יצחק לשוח בשדה לפנות ערב , עת שהקליפות וסט"א מתגברים, הי' לא תהי', ורוצים להחשיך הארת שמש ומגן הוי' אלקים. וארז"ל אין שיחה אלא לשון תפלה, תפלה ל' התופל כלי חרס, המתקן ומחבר כלי חרס עפר מן האדמה לבוראם אביהם שבשמים.

תפלתי ותקותי אשר זכותו יעמוד לנצח לכל המסייעים והמשתתפים בפעולות הקדושות. ובטחוני חזק אשר כהדר"ג שליט"א וכל המסתופפים בצלו, כמאז כן עתה, ובפרט לימים הבאים, יושיטו יד עזרה בכחות הנעלים שחנן השם יתברך ויתעלה את כל איש מנהיג בעדתו וקהלתו.

ואמר מלכא - מאן מלכי רבנן - עקר טורא, טורא דגבה בין ישראל לאביהם שבשמים בעונותינו בזמן הגלות החשך כפול ומכופל, הצפוני אשר צדיקים נדמה להם כהר. ובסייעתא דשמיא, יהי רצון אשר בעגלא דידן, יקויים היעוד ומלאה הארץ דעה את הוי' כמים לים מכסים, ועין בעין יראו בשוב ה' ציון על ידי משיח צדקנו, במהרה בימינו אמן.

ובמענה על שאלתו להודיעו אם אפשר למצוא בארצות הברית ספרי בית יוסף וגם ספר הרמב"ם ומחירם במטבע המדינה, הנה הטור בית יוסף קשה להשיג, אבל השלחן-ערוך (חלקי אה"ע, חו"מ ואו"ח) יש להשיג במחיר של 44 דולר, והיו"ד במחיר 30 דולר לערך, והרמב"ם במחיר 56 דולר כל זה אצל המוכרי ספרים כאן. מכיון שכהדר"ג שליט"א כתב שנחוצים להם ארבעה איכסמפלרים, הנה אם יכבד עליהם לשלם בעד כלם, אצוה למשרד המרכז לעניני חינוך לשלוח חנם בתור תשורה אחד מהארבעה איכסמפלרים, אם אקבל מכ' עד"ז בהסכמה.
