Greetings and blessings,

The time has come to emphasize to you the necessity of guiding others, of being even more meticulous[1]. The most essential points, on the other hand, ought already to be acquired. You must, above all, explain to the talmidim* of the yeshivah* that they must be "lights to illuminate."

I know you, and I am therefore certain that you will know how to find the words that suit, so that the message may at last get through. You must surely have heard the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, which, it seems to me, is reproduced in the Hayom Yom[2], that as important as it may be to knead bread, one who adopts that occupation when he is able to work with precious stones and pearls makes a very poor choice.

... כבר בא העת שיוצרכו לעוררו ע"ד השפעה וזהירות נוספת ולא ע"ד ענינים עיקרים, והעיקר שיזכור ויתעורר ע"ד כוונת ענין התמימים שצריכים להיות נרות להאיר דוקא, ובטח בהכירו אותו ימצא האותיות המתאימות אשר סוכ"ס זאל עם דאס דורכנעמען, וידוע ג"כ פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר (וכמדומה שנעתק ג"כ בהיום יום) אשר אף שאפיית לחם הוא דבר נחוץ, אבל היכול להתעסק בענינים דאבנים טובות ומרגליות, ותמורת זה מתעסק הוא בהנ"ל, ה"ז שלא כדבעי כלל וכלל.
