To my aunt, the Rebbetzin who directs her household,

virtuous and honored woman, Mrs. Rochel[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter of 24 Tammuz, in which you tell me that you have learned of the misfortune that befell my brother[2]. I hasten to reply to your question. My mother, to whom may Hashem grant long life, knows nothing of what has happened. We are deploying all our efforts to conceal it from her, on account of her state of health.

May Hashem grant that each one of us announce to the others only good news, material and spiritual.

With my blessing that you derive much pleasure and satisfaction from your daughter and your son-in-law, in good health, for long and good years.

ברכה ושלום!

זה עתה קבלתי מכתבה מכ"ד תמוז, בו כותבת אשר נודע לה ע"ד האסון מפטירת אחי ז"ל וממהר הנני לענות על שאלתה, אשר כבוד אמי שליט"א אינה יודעת על דבר זה מאומה ומשתדלים בכל עוז ותעצומות להעלים ממנה כל הענין מפני מצב בריאותה והשי"ת יזכה את כאו"א מאתנו לבשר אך בשורות טובות זא"ז בגשמיות וברוחניות.

בברכה שתרווה רוב נחת וענג מבתה וחתנה שיחיו מתוך בריאות הנכונה ובאריכות ימים ושנים טובות.
