Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1750 — Fundraising

Volume 6 · Letter 223

By the grace of Hashem,

5 Menachem Av 5712,

Brooklyn, New York,

To all the participants in the meeting of the unified appeal

of Chicago, on behalf of the educational institutions of

Lubavitch, taking place at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Yechezkel Lisner,

may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and abundant blessings,

You will gather, im yirtzeh Hashem*, on Monday 6 Menachem Av, in order to consolidate and develop, in a fruitful manner, the exceptional unified appeal of Chicago and its region. I hope that this gathering will bring the expected results, in a concrete and useful manner.

Everyone knows the affirmation of our Sages that "the Shechinah* reveals itself whenever ten people gather." To be sure, "the entire earth is filled with His glory." Nevertheless, the gathering of ten Yidden reveals the Presence of Hashem far more clearly, in particular when the object of the gathering is connected to Torah and mitzvos*, and most especially when it concerns providing a good chinuch*, thus uniting both Torah and mitzvos*.

Thus the Shechinah* reveals itself even more clearly and manifests itself in various ways, in particular by the granting of a true idea about the manner of organizing the work and influencing others in this direction, an exact approach to the means of bringing one's participation, through a generous financial contribution, an unfailing physical presence, and warm moral collaboration.

I hope and am convinced that the leader of all these institutions, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, will invoke the great mercy of Hashem so that the work previously defined will receive great success. He grants his blessing and ensures the success of all those who will take part in this gathering in particular, and in the collection in general, through the satisfaction of all their needs, as well as those of the members of their families.

With my blessing of success and greetings to each one of you,
