Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter of 11 Tammuz, in which you describe to me briefly what your life has been until now. You tell me that you currently hold teaching functions, since you teach in the Talmud Torah of a village and try to draw close the hearts of the children of Yisroel to our Father in Heaven. You ask me whether, for various reasons, you may remain in this place.

From the situation you describe in your letter, this Talmud Torah groups about a hundred children. You exert upon them a positive influence, and you instill in them yiras shamayim*. Not only may you remain there, but you are even bound to do so. As for the contrary arguments you write to me about, one must find a means to remove them. Hashem will surely give you the means to arrive at this.

You ask me how to acquire intense yiras shamayim* and ahavas Hashem* and ahavas Torah*. At the present time, the success of such an undertaking is possible through the study of Chassidus*, which deals with yiras shamayim* and ahavas Hashem*, with the love of Torah and of one's fellow, and which makes it possible to acquire these values.

Everyone can observe that this is so, and what is clearly established need not be proved. You will surely find, among your acquaintances, persons capable of advising you on the manner of approaching this study and of guiding you according to your capacities and your possibilities.

May Hashem fully grant the wishes of your heart, that you may have a sincere yiras shamayim* and that you may have the merit of drawing close the hearts of those who receive your influence and that of your talmidim* to our Father in Heaven.

במענה על מכתבו מי"א תמוז, בו כותב בקצרה ע"ד קורות ימי חייו עד עתה, ואשר עתה מתעסק במלאכתו בשדה חינוך הכשר בתור מורה במושב בתלמוד תורה לקרב את לבן של בני ישראל לאבינו שבשמים, ושואל חוות דעתי אם מותר לו להשאר במקומו, מפני כמה טעמים וכו'

הנה לפי המצב שכותב במכתבו שישנם בהת"ת כמאה ילדים - כן ירבו - והוא משפיע להם ומלמדם ברוחה של יראת שמים, הנה לא לבד שמותר לו להשאר במקומו, אלא שמחוייב הוא בזה, והטענות שכותב במכ' נגד זה, הנה צריך לחפש עצות ותחבולות איך להסירם, ובטח יזמין לו השי"ת דרכים שיסורו כל המניעות בזה.

בשאלתו איך יוכל להשיג מדה גדולה של יראת שמים, אהבת השם ואהבת התורה וכו', הנה בימינו אלה הדרך לזה הוא, לימוד תורת החסידות העוסקת ומביאה לידי יראת ה' אהבת השם אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל, וכאו"א רואה זאת במוחש והמפורסמות אין צריכות ראי', ובטח יכול למצוא מכירים כאלו שייעצוהו איך להתחיל בלימוד זה ולהדריכו באופן המתאים לחושיו וכשרונותיו, והשי"ת ימלא משאלות לבו בפנימיות להיות ירא שמים באמת ולזכות לקרב את לבם של מושפעיו ותלמידיו לאבינו שבשמים,
