Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter, on behalf of the woman asking that one daven* for her son and that he receive a brachah*, for he is not in good health. When I find myself at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, I will mention his name, that he may obtain a speedy refuah*.

It should be ascertained from his mother whether his birth was pure[1]. If this was not the case, chas veshalom*, you will let me know immediately. You will also ask her to verify that all the mezuzos* of the home in which the young man lives are kosher. Furthermore, you will roll a mezuzah* in three cases or three envelopes, one of which shall be watertight, and the young man will carry it on his person.

Obviously, he will remove it if he enters a lavatory or a bathroom. He will also not wear it on Shabbos or on Yom Kippur. She[2] will also have the mezuzos* of her own home checked, that they be kosher. Moreover, he shall have a tallis katan*, which he will wear on his person.

I do not know how old this young man is, but if he is capable of davening*, he will do so each day. If he does not know Hebrew, he will be able to do so in English. Before lighting the candles on erev Shabbos and erev yom tov*, his mother will give a penny to the tzedakah* of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNeis[3].

קבלתי מכתבו בשם האשה המבקשת תפלה וברכה בעד בנה... שי' שאינו בבריאות כדבעי, וכשאהי' על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אזכירו לרפואה קרובה,

צריכים לברר אצל אמו, אם נולד הוא בטהרה, ובאם ח"ו לא, תודיע תיכף, וגם לאמר לה שתראה שהבית שדר בה הבחור יהיו כל המזוזות כשרות, וגם לכרוך מזוזה כשרה בשלשה ניירות או מעטפות (ענוועלאפס) ושאחד יהי' מהם וואטערפרוף, וישא אותה הבחור על עצמו (כמובן שבכניסתו לביהכ"ס - טאילעט - או חדר המרחץ - באדע צימער - יפשוט אותה, וכן לא ישא אותה בש"ק וביום הכפורים), וכן לבדוק כל המזוזות בביתה שיהיו כשרות כדין, וגם ילבש טלית קטן וישא אותו. לא ידעתי כמה שנותיו של הבחור, אבל אם שייך הוא לתפלה, הנה יתפלל בכל יום, ואם אינו יודע עברית יהי' לכה"פ באנגלית, והאם של הבחור תתן קודם הדלקת נרות בכל עש"ק וערב יום טוב 1 פעני לצדקת רבי מאיר בעל הנס - רמבעה"ן.

וחוץ מזה האמור לעיל, צריכים לשאול ברופא מומחה למקצוע זה, כי בשנים האחרונות מצאו אמצעים שעוזרים לחולי נופלים ר"ל או כולו או שמקיל, ובטח ביאהאניסבורג, נמצאים רופאים שיודעים מזה, ואקוה לשמוע בשו"ט בכל הנ"ל,
