To the great Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Eliezer[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I thank you for having announced to me good news, the fact that you have begun to administer examinations[2] to the talmidim* of the yeshivah* of Lod. No doubt these examinations will be completed by the beginning of the month of Elul.

I would like to make to you the following proposal. Perhaps you yourself, or someone who will be capable of it, could also examine the knowledge of the talmidim* of Yeshivas Toras Emes[3], the boys and the young men[4].

If you think that I should write directly to this yeshivah*, you will tell me so at the same time as you propose to me a person capable of organizing this examination. Of course, this will not diminish the quality of the teachers of Toras Emes.

With my blessing and in expectation of good news,

... ת"ח על הבשו"ט שהתחיל בבחינת התלמידים של ישיבת לוד, ובטח יוכל לגמור הבחינה בתחלת חדש אלול. והנני להציע בזה, שאולי אפשר שהוא או מי שהוא שימצא מתאים לזה יבחון ג"כ את תלמידי ישיבת תורת אמת, הן הבחורים והן האברכים. ואם דעתו שצריך אני לכתוב מכאן עד"ז, יודיעני ביחד עם מהות האיש המוצע לבחינה - באופן שלא יפחיתו עי"ז את מהותם של הרמי"ם בתורת אמת)...
