Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1826 — Health

Volume 6 · Letter 299 · To: Rav distingué et bien connu

By the grace of Hashem,

7 Elul 5712,

Brooklyn,

To the distinguished and well-known Rav, chassid who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Shlomo Zalman[1],

Greetings and blessings,

You ask me whether you may institute that the chazzan* begin Minchah, every day, with Vayedaber[2], and on erev Shabbos with Hodu and Pasach Eliyahu[3], so that all those present recite these passages together with him.

It is clear that such a practice is positive, since it preserves from forgetting. The Torah itself asks that one have recourse to such manners of proceeding.

With my blessing of good health and of success in your communal activities and your personal preoccupations, wishing you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year, together with the members of your family,

[1] Rav Sh. Z. Hecht. See concerning him letter 1026.
[2] The description of the offering of the incense, which each one ordinarily recites in a low voice, before the chazzan begins Minchah.
[3] A psalm and a passage of Tikkunei Zohar specifically added to Minchah on Friday.
