I was satisfied to ascertain that you preoccupy yourself with the situation of shechitah* in your city. Nevertheless, I was very pained by the disagreeable events and what took place in an unbecoming manner, as you mention in your letter.
You no doubt make reference to the Shulchan Aruch. You will surely have the opportunity, in these days, to meet a few chassidim* who will be able to intervene in this matter. I have good hope that it will be possible for you, little by little, to repair the situation. Obviously, I will not reveal that you were the first to inform me of it.
May Hashem grant you success in your study and in your sacred mission, in which you will know no difficulty, chas veshalom*. You know that our Sages define shechitah* as a movement of attraction. In the most simple sense, it permits the flesh of the animal or the fowl to elevate itself, from the animal stage toward the human kingdom, in fusing it with the flesh and the blood of him who consumes it. The same is therefore true in the spiritual dimension.
Indeed, shechitah* permits drawing and elevating the nefesh habahamis* toward the stage of the man who is built in the image of Hashem, as the Shnei Luchos HaBris indicates, on page 20b, cited by the Asarah Maamaros, in the maamar* Em Kol Chai, second part, chapter 33.

... נהניתי מההתענינות שלו במצב ענין השו"ב במחנו, אף שנצטערתי במאד, על המאורעות והענינים שלא כדבעי, שמזכירם במכתבו. וכנראה שכוונתו בה הוא לשו"ע.
ובטח ימים אלו תהי' הזדמנות לדבר עם עוד אחדים מאנ"ש אשר יכולים להתערב בזה, ותקותי שיעלה סו"ס לתקן את המצב לאט לאט. מובן מעצמו שלא אזכיר שההודעה הראשונה באה מכת"ר שי'. והשי"ת יזכהו להצליח בלימוד ובמלאכת הקדש בלי שום מכשול ח"ו. וידוע ג"כ הפירוש במרז"ל אין ושחט אלא ומשך, שהוא, כמו שע"פ פשוט, ענין השחיטה היא להכשיר את בשר הבהמה והעוף להעלותם ממדריגת חי למדריגת מדבר (כיון שנעשה דם ובשר של האדם) הרי יעשה ג"כ ענין זה ברוחניות, להמשיך ולהעלות את הנפש הבהמית למדריגת אדם שהוא מל' אדמה לעליון, וכמ"ש בשל"ה דף [כ'] ע"ב, הוא בס' עשרה מאמרות, מאמר אם כל חי חלק ב' סימן ל"ג.
