Greetings and blessings,

Your brother, the young chassid* who fears Hashem, has informed me that you have been mobilized for nearly a year. Without doubt you remember your origins in every place where you find yourself. I hope that you say to yourself, from time to time, that a particular mission has been confided to you toward the place to which you have been sent and where you presently find yourself.

Certainly, who can determine with precision what is the mission incumbent upon him? Nevertheless, there are very often realizations of which one can practically affirm that they are well integral parts of it. This is effectively the case for what concerns you. You come from the family which is yours, and you have therefore received an ancestral tradition of mesirus nefesh* for Torah and mitzvos*. In consequence, it is more or less certain that this is the role which is confided to you, in the midst of those who surround you.

You must explain to them the truth, show them the radiance of Torah and Jewish tradition. With the fitting effort, you will know how to find the words which will permit you to transmit this message, and Hashem will grant you success.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches in a positive and blessed manner, for us and for all Israel, I address you my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

נודעתי מאחיו האברך הוו"ח אי"א וכו' מו"ה... שי' אשר נמצא הוא בצבא קרוב לשנה, ובטח נזכר הוא על צור מחצבתו בכל מקום שנמצא, ותקותי אשר לפעמים חושב מחשבות בלבו אשר אפשר לו שליחות מיוחדה להביא להסביבה שם נשלח ונמצא עתה, אין אתנו איש אשר יאמר ברור ובהחלט אשר ענין פלוני זהו שליחותו, אבל לפעמים תכופות הנה יש פרטים שקרוב לודאי שהם נכנסים בשליחותו של פלוני, וגם מר כיון שנצר הוא למשפחה כמשפחתו שלו היינו דבאה לו זה במסורת אבות מדור דור שמסרו נפשם על התורה והמצוה הרי קרוב לודאי שזה ג"כ מתפקידו בהסביבה בה נמצא עתה לבאר להם את האמת ואור שבתורה ובמסורת ישראל ובטח בהשתדלות הראוי' ימצא את האותיות המתאימות לביאור זה והשי"ת יצליחו.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות
