Greetings and blessings,

A) I received with pleasure your letter of motzaei Shabbos* Beshalach, with the press clipping concerning Yud-Tes Kislev* enclosed. I thank you for sending it to me. Likewise, I received in due time your letter to which was enclosed the sichah* of the Shabbos* during which the month of Elul was blessed, translated into Italian[1].

You know that one does not thank for the fulfillment of a mitzvah*. Indeed, it is said that "the reward of the mitzvah* is the mitzvah* itself." It seems to me that I have already written to you, some time ago, that you should publish, regularly and frequently, teachings, stories, and practices of Chassidus* in Italian. You will do so, for example, near 2 Nissan[2], the festival of Pesach*, Lag BaOmer*.

You will find the material for these articles in the collections of sichos* and the Likkutei Dibburim*[3] already published. You will be able to find the rest from the great rav and chassid*, Rav M. Perlov[1], who surely possesses a great number of these publications.

B) Consequently, your intention of publishing a brochure on the activities of Chabad*, of course in Italian, is judicious. It would be good for it to be based on the one that has been published here in Hebrew and that has just appeared in English.

We recently received news of our accomplishments in Morocco and I enclose them. You will surely find on the spot someone who understands English. Obviously, if time permits, it would be good for you to send a copy of your translation here before its publication.

C) You tell me that this brochure will be published by the newspaper of Milan. I do not know the nature of this newspaper, and it is therefore difficult for me to take a position. It would be good for you to consult the great Rav Perlov and Rav Gansburg, who are on the spot.

But it is preferable that the brochure be published by the Chabad* association or by this newspaper, each formula having its advantages. In any event, it would be good to publish, from time to time, in this newspaper, articles on Chabad*, as I was saying.

You understand well the merit acquired by one who strives to spread knowledge of the teaching, the customs and the practices of Chassidus* in the language of the country.

D) You tell me that the construction of the mikveh* is finished, and I am very pleased about it. You made a passage there of soft cement[1]. When you receive this letter, you will surely have received the rain necessary to put it into service.

I await good news in this domain.

E) In your first letter, you discuss the "foolish words" mentioned in the Zohar*, and you suggest that they are the secular sciences, "foolish" relative to the wisdom of the realm of holiness.

Your interpretation is correct, as the chassidic maamar* entitled "And Moshe said: choose for us men," of Purim 5709[4], explains. You will be able to consult it in kuntres* no. 63, beginning from the second chapter.

F) You doubtless received my greetings transmitted by Mr. Tsipel[1].

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו ממוצש"ק בשלח עם קטע העתון ע"ד י"ט כסלו המוסגר בו, ות"ח על שילוחו אלי. כן נתקבל בעתו מכתבו בצירוף שיחת שבת מברכים אלול העבר שנדפסה באיטלקית, וידוע אשר בענין של מצוה אין שייך לומר תודה, כי שכר מצוה מצוה, ומהראוי הי' כמו שכתבתי לו כמדומה מכבר, אשר לעתים קרובים ולא רחוקים כל כך אחד מחבירו, יודפס בשפת איטלקית ענינים מתורת החסידות מסיפורי' והדרכותי' וכמו בזמן הקרוב בנוגע לב' ניסן, חג הפסח, ל"ג בעומר וכו' והחומר לזה בטח ימצא בספרי השיחות ולקוטי דבורים הנדפסים, והשאר יוכל להמציא לו הרה"ג והרה"ח כו' מהר"מ שי' פערלאוו שבודאי נמצא אצלו כמה מהוצאות הנ"ל.

ב) בהתאם להנ"ל הנה נכון הדבר אשר רוצה להדפיס כמובן באיטלקית חוברת ע"ד עסקנות חב"ד, ומה טוב שיהי' זה ע"ד הנדפס פה בלה"ק ועתה ג"כ באנגלית, שבהאחרונה נמצא ג"כ ידיעות נוספות בנוגע לעבודתינו במרוקו, ומוסג"פ. ובטח ימצא שם מי המבין בשפת האנגלית, מובן שאם יהי' רק הזמן גרמא כדאי שיושלח לכאן העתק מההעתקה קודם שיודפס.

ג) במה שכותב שהחוברת תצא לאור מטעם העתון דמילאנא, הנה כיון שאיני יודע מהות העתון על ברור, קשה לי להחליט בזה, וטוב הי' שיתייעץ עם הרה"ג פערלאוו והרב גאנזבורג שיחיו שהם נמצאים על אתר, הטוב יותר שתצא לאור החוברת בתור הוצאת ארגון חב"ד או מטעם העתון שיש מעלות בשתיהם, ובכל אופן כדאי שיודפס ג"כ בעתון לעתים קרובים מזמן לזמן מעניני חב"ד וכנ"ל. ומובן גודל הזכות בזה למי שישתדל להפיץ גם בשפת מדינתם ידיעות ע"ד תורת החסידות מנהגי' והדרכותי'.

ד) נהניתי במאד מה שכותב שכבר נגמר בנין המקוה ועשה התעלה ג"כ ממלט חלש, ובטח לעת קבלת מכתבי זה כבר ירדו גשמים ובמילא אפשר כבר להשתמש בה, ולבשו"ט בזה אחכה.

ה) מה שכתב במכתבו הראשון בענין מילי דשטותא המובא בזהר שרוצה לפרש על חכמות חיצוניות אשר בשם סכלות יקרא לגבי חכמה דקדושה. הנה כיון אל האמת וכמבואר בארוכה בד"ה ויאמר משה גו' בחר לנו אנשים, בהמאמר דפורים תש"ט נדפס בקונטרס ס"ג עיין שם פ"ב ואילך.

ו) בטח קיבל הפ"ש שמסרתי לו ע"י מר ציפעל שי'.
