To the rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your request for blessing on the occasion of 10 Shevat, and I will read it, without making it a vow, at a propitious moment, near the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.

On this occasion, I would like to formulate a few remarks on the bulletin of Adar, which I have just received, hoping that you will still be able to introduce the necessary corrections:

A) You do not speak at all of the machatzis hashekel*[2], neither on the first page, nor on the second. This is important this year, since it is at the conclusion of Shabbos*[3].

B) Concerning the foods that one sends to friends[4], it must be specified that it is solely a matter of foodstuffs.

C) At the end of the second page, "satisfaction" should be replaced by "Jewish satisfaction"[5].

D) You discuss, on the third page, the situation of mourners. It would be good to recall the traditional formula of consolation, accepted by the entire Jewish people[6]: "May Hashem comfort them among all the mourners of Tziyon* and Yerushalayim*." It is important to know it, since one is addressing mourners. Moreover, one must seize every occasion to make known the laws and customs of the Jewish people.

E) On the fourth page, as on the end of the third, and more generally, every time the names of several people are cited, one of the means that can be adopted to avoid discontent and resentment, since one is necessarily cited before the other, is the following. These names should be classified in alphabetical order.

Moreover, I notice that you cite, on p. 3, the events of Jewish history according to the calendar of the month. The sefer* Devar Yom BeYomo* may be of service to you in this domain. It has been republished in recent years.

בהזדמנות זו הנני להעיר איזה פרטים בהביולעטען דאדר שקבלתי זה עתה וכיון שתקותי שיוכל לתקן את זה, והוא: א) אין מזכיר כלל ע"ד מחצית השקל לא בעמוד א' ולא בעמוד ב', ובפרט נוגע בשנה זו שחל במוצש"ק. ב) בנוגע למשלוח מנות צריך להוסיף שצ"ל במינים של מאכל דוקא. ג) בסוף עמוד ב' לאחר המלה "נחת" טוב להוסיף ולהדגיש "דזשואיש נחת". ד) בעמוד ג' בנוגע להאבלים, מהנכון להוסיף הנוסח המקובל הנהוג בישראל "המקום ינחם אותם בתוך אבלי ציון וירושלים" ומלבד נחיצות הדבר מצד עצמו, כיון שפונים להאבלים, הרי צריך לנצל כל הזדמנות לפרסום דיני ומנהגי ישראל. ה) בעמוד ד' וכן בסוף עמוד ג' ובכלל בכל מקום שמביאים שמות כמה אנשים, הנה אחת העצות להמנע מטענות ותרעומות בהקדמת פלוני לפלוני, הוא לסדר השמות ע"פ אל"ף בי"ת... דא"ג ראיתי בעמוד ג' שמביא בימי החדש המאורעות שקרו בו מחיי עם ישראל, ויוכל להועיל בזה הספר "דבר יום ביומו" שבשנים האחרונות נדפס עוה"פ.
