To the great Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Zev Yehudah HaLevi [1],

Greetings and blessings,

I hope that you received in time my telegram concerning the hilula of my father-in-law, the Rebbe [2], whose merit protects us. No doubt you organized a friendly chassidishe farbrengen*. For our Sages stress, in tractate Sanhedrin 103b, the value of a meal that brings near those who share it, that reveals the Shechinah* even to ... [3].

How much more so when ten Yidden* gather, since the simple fact of their being together suffices to obtain this revelation, even when they are doing nothing [4], as Iggeres HaKodesh* says, in chapter 23.

You will also consult the Korban HaEdah* on the Yerushalmi* Eruvin, chapter 1, paragraph 10. And this revelation is even more clearly obtained when one says divrei Torah*. I am convinced that all the good resolutions that were taken will be carried out, in thought, speech, and action.

I enclose for you the kuntres edited near the date of this hilula. It presents a chassidishe maamar* [5] which my father-in-law, the Rebbe, was particularly fond of, as he writes in his letter, printed at the beginning of the kuntres.
