By the grace of Hashem,

To the great Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav David [1],

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure the letter in which you announce to me a piece of good news. You have at last obtained a set of the Talmud, for your personal merit and for that of all the persons receiving your teaching. May Hashem grant that the number of your attentive talmidim* multiply, and that the ultimate purpose be fulfilled, since our Sages say: "Not study but action is the main thing."

Consequently, I would like to put forward a proposal that I have already made [2] on various occasions, and which, boruch Hashem*, has proven beneficial. In every place a shiur* must be instituted, at least for a few minutes, on the most commonly applicable halachos that govern daily conduct. They may be found in Derech HaChaim* by the author of the Chavas Daas*, or in the abridged Shulchan Aruch.

For those who reside in Eretz HaKodesh*, there are surely compilations on the laws applicable there at the present time. It is unnecessary to say how important all this is. Ultimately, "this is the entire purpose of man, to fear Hashem and keep His mitzvos."

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו, בו מבשר טוב אשר סו"ס נתקבל הש"ס לזכותו ולזכות הרבים הלומדים בשעוריו, ויה"ר מהשי"ת אשר יגדל גבולו בתלמידים מקשיבים ויקויים בהם ג"כ תכלית המבוקש ע"פ מרז"ל לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה.

ובהמשך לזה באתי בהצעתי במה שכבר דברתי בכ"מ ות"ל שעלתה בידי, להנהיג בכל מקום לימוד ברבים שיעור עכ"פ של איזה רגעים דהלכות המצויות הנוגעים למעשה בחיי היום יומים, ויש לקחת זה אם מס' דרך החיים לבעל המחבר ספר חוות דעת או מקיצור שו"ע וכיו"ב. ולהדרים באה"ק ת"ו הרי בודאי ישנם ג"כ לקוטים מהלכות הנוהגים בארץ בזמן הזה. וגודל הנחיצות בזה אינו דורש ביאור, והרי סו"ס הרי זה כל האדם את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור.

בברכה להצלחה ולהשפעה טובה בקהלתו וסביבתו.
