By the grace of Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

I was pleased to learn from your letter that you are participating in the activity of Chabad. You know the statement of our Sages that one must rise higher and higher in everything connected with kedushah*. According to several Poskim* [1], this is even an obligation min haTorah*.

And those who hold that this is an enactment of our Sages, as is the case with the Alter Rebbe in his Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, chapter 34, paragraph 9, nevertheless recognize that "your caresses are more pleasant than wine," according to the interpretation our Sages give of this verse [2].

With my blessing for good health and a freilichen* Purim,
