Igrot Kodesh · Letter 2088 — Tzedakah
Volume 7 · Letter 223
B'ezras Hashem*,
24 Nissan 5713,
Brooklyn,
Greetings and blessings,
I duly received, though with a slight delay, your question, the content of which was the following. You have found the manuscripts of chassidic discourses, and, on the title page, you saw the mention "kisvei kodesh,"[1] You note that the books of Tanach* are also called by this name. You therefore wonder whether one may designate other books by this same name.
I am surprised that you are unaware of the fact that many holy seforim* are called by this name — the Mishneh Torah of the Rambam*, the Toras Moshe of Rav Moshe Alshich, the Shenei Luchos HaBris*. I cite here only a few, and in catalogues you will find many others. And three witnesses[2] suffice for a fact to be established.
You see, therefore, that your question is no question at all, and may Hashem* grant that you accept the principle of a systematic study of the kisvei kodesh* of our masters, whose merit will protect us.
For the Rebbe* shlita*,
the secretary,
Notes
[1] Commonly designating the writings of Chassidus.
[2] In this case, the three books cited above.
