Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter of 24 Nissan, informing me that you were planning to perform, the next day, 25 Nissan, the upsherenish* of your son.

If this is already done, it surely was at a good and fruitful moment. If it is not done, all the better, for one does not set an upsherenish* during the period of Sefiras HaOmer*, and in fact I am a little surprised that you considered this possibility.

In the latter case, you will set the upsherenish* for the date of Lag BaOmer*. In one case as in the other, it will be at a good and fruitful moment. You will raise this child, with your wife, to Torah*, chuppah*, and good deeds. And your educational work, within an institution of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, the tzaddik* who is the foundation of the world, leader of Yisrael*, will be fruitful.

זה עתה נתקבל מכתבו מכ"ד ניסן, אשר למחרתו כ"ה ניסן בדעתו לעשות התספורת של בנו... שי'.

והנה אם כבר עשה מעשה הרי בודאי יהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת, אבל באם לאו (וכן הוא הנכון כיון שאין גוזזים שערות בימי הספירה, ובמילא היתה תמי' קצת בעיני על הסברא לעשות כנ"ל) יעשה זה בל"ג בעומר הבע"ל, ובכל אופן בין כך ובין כך הנה כנ"ל יהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ויגדלו ביחד עם זוגתו לתורה לחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך הצלחה בעסקנותו בשדה החינוך במוסד כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר צי"ע נשיא ישראל.
