To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure the continuation of your memoirs, after a long interruption. I am surprised that you say nothing of your state of health and that of your wife. May Hashem grant that this be a good sign, an indication that all is well. Despite this, you will not fail to give me this information in the future. You will also tell me about your success at the Yeshivah Achei Temimim of Tel Aviv[2]. I thank you for it in advance.

You speak, in your notes, of the Ch.Ch.M.[3], author of the Sdei Chemed*. It seems that there is an error here, for the Sdei Chemed*, when he came to Crimea, was arriving from Constantinople and not from Yerushalayim*. It was in 5627[4], and he returned to Eretz HaKodesh* in 5659[5]. He thus remained in Crimea for thirty-two years and not forty-two.

Likewise, his struggle against the schools of the Alliance[6] took place in Chevron*, on his return from Crimea. Nothing permits saying that the same was the case in Yerushalayim*. In fact, when the Ch.Ch.M.[3] left that city, he was between eighteen and twenty years old. It seems improbable that, of all the rabbanim* of Yerushalayim*, he should be precisely the one who waged this struggle.

I enclose for you the kuntres* that has appeared for the festival of liberation of the 12-13 of Tammuz, which is approaching. No doubt you will make its content available to as many as possible.

אחרי הפסק ארוך הנה בנועם קבלתי המשך רשימותיו, ולפלא שלא כתב בצירוף לזה עכ"פ ממצב בריאותו ושל זוגתו שיחיו ויה"ר שזה יהי' סימן טוב שהכל שלום, ובכ"ז להבא יכתוב גם ע"ד הנ"ל וכן ע"ד הצלחתו בישיבת אחי תמימים בתל אביב, ות"ח מראש.

במ"ש ברשימתו אודות החח"ם (בעל המחבר השדי חמד) הנה כנראה שיש כאן איזה טעות, כי השדי חמד בא לקרים מקונסטנטי[ני]פול (ולא מירושלים ת"ו) בשנת תרכ"ז וחזר ועלה לאה"ק ת"ו בשנת תרנ"ט, וא"כ הרי זה ל"ב שנים שהותו בקרים ולא מ"ב. וכן אודות מלחמתו בבתי ספר אליאנס, הי' זה בחברון לאחרי חזרתו מקרים, ואינו ידוע ממקום אחר שיהי' ג"כ בירושלים. ובפרט שכשיצא החח"ם מירושלים ת"ו הי' בן י"ח-כ' לערך, ואין סברא לומר שמכל רבני ירושלים ת"ו הי' הוא הלוחם נגד הנ"ל.
