I thank you for having written to me to describe the chassidic farbrengen* you organized on the day of the hilula* of King David[1]. No doubt, in the future, you will also take advantage of the festive days to organize such chassidic farbrengens* and to arouse in yourselves the love of Hashem, the love of the Torah*, and the love of Yisrael*.

But it is above all important to take the firm decision to go beyond your reduced four amos*[2] and to extend yourselves, in the appropriate manner, into all the other Jewish circles, in order to disseminate there the wellsprings — those of the Torah* of the living Hashem, of general Chassidus* and of Chabad* Chassidus*.

There are various means of attaining this. One of them is a chassidic farbrengen*, in the presence of a large crowd, striving to invite many people, especially young ones, from various circles. In this way, you will put into practice the desire and the will of the Alter Rebbe*, who wished that Chabad* not be a specific group, but be addressed indeed to the entire people of Yisrael*.

...ות"ח על מה שכותב בענין ההתועדות שהי' להם ביום ההלולא של דוד המלך, ובטח גם להבא ינצלו את היומי דפגרא להתועד בהתועדות חסידותית ולהתעוררות באהבת השם אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל, והעיקר - לקבל על עצמם בהחלטה גמורה שכבר באה העת שצריכים לצאת מד' אמות המצומצמים ולהתפשט, באופן המתאים, בין שאר חוגי בנ"י להפיץ שם המעינות, מעינות דא"ח ותורת החסידות הכללית ותורת חסידות חב"ד. וכמה דרכים בזה, ואחד מהדרכים הוא ע"י התועדות ברבים ובהשתדלות לשתף בהתועדות אנשים ובפרט הנוער מחוגים שונים, ובטח יקויים חפץ ורצון כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן, שחב"ד לא יהי' ענין של מפלגה אלא של כללות עם ישראל יחיו.
