Greetings and blessings,

I was pleased to note that you regard the institutions of the Holy Land favorably and that you tell me of their virtues. May Hashem grant that, with time, you will be able to discover their intrinsic qualities, and not only those that appear by comparison to the deficiencies observed in the rest of the world.

You know the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe[1], whose merit shall protect us, emphasizing how much one must reject any feeling of self-satisfaction. Generally speaking, the yetzer hara* takes advantage of it to arouse pride and presumption, which are even more harmful — including for what has already been accomplished.

In fact, I am willing to set aside this risk[2], provided there is something to be proud of, in a manner befitting my father-in-law, the Rebbe, founder of these institutions, who directs them.

I enclose a kuntres* that has just appeared. You will surely make its content available to as many people as possible. And may Hashem transform, very soon, these days[3] into joy and gladness.

...נהניתי ממה שמביט בעין יפה על המוסדות באה"ק ת"ו ומודיע ע"ד המעלות שבהם והלואי שבמשך הזמן יהיו מעלות עצמיות ולא רק מפני שמשווה לחסרונות המוסדות אשר בחו"ל. וידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע עד כמה שיש להזהר בהרגש דשביעת רצון כי ע"פ רוב משתמש בזה היצה"ר ליישן ולעורר רגש של מציאות וישות כו' שבמילא מקלקל עוד, וגם במה שנעשה עד עתה, ובאמת גם ע"ז החשש הנני מוותר ובלבד שיהי' ממה להיות בשביעת רצון במדה המתאימה לרצון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר מייסד המוסדות ומנהלם...
