Greetings and blessings,

I have already explained several times that one rises in the domain of holiness and not[1] the reverse. Our Sages say that this principle applies to everything that concerns holiness, and all the more so to an institution with an educational vocation.

Chinuch* is, indeed, a means of sowing, of planting. It is therefore indispensable to observe development in this matter. In the present case, your institution bears the name of yeshivah, but it appears that, for now, it is rather a Talmud Torah*, or at most an elementary yeshivah[2]. In the first years of its existence, some of its leaders had in mind to make of it, in time, a yeshivah worthy of the name. Then, from one year to the next, this project was abandoned. Even more, this abandonment is justified in various ways, and as the will induces the understanding, one is capable of constructing various reasonings to demonstrate that it is even impossible to obtain such a result.

By an effect of hashgachah pratis*, talmidim* presented themselves to you, coming from chassidic families that came from Europe. There are also potential talmidim among the refugees, animated by the fear of Hashem, who have settled in your country. Hashem has also enabled you to find competent teachers. All this has been obtained without effort on your part.

I have affirmed to you on various occasions that on this depended the success of your institution, that it was therefore necessary to seize every opportunity, as quickly as possible, so that this institution might be, properly speaking, a yeshivah.

In observing the many miracles, occurring in supernatural fashion, because my father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Yisrael, whose merit shall protect us, invokes Divine mercy, I had good hope that he would intercede for you also in this case, and that you would observe and understand the situation, that you would see how much the happiness and success of this institution, of those who lead it, and of the members of their families, depend upon all this.

With my blessing for success in your sacred mission, in accordance with the will of our leader, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit shall protect us,

... זה כמה פעמים ביארתי אשר האמור מעלין בקדש ולא כו' הוא פסק רז"ל ושייך לכל עניני קדושה ועאכו"כ במוסד הקשור בחינוך שעצם ענין החינוך ה"ז כענין של זריעה ונטיעה שמוכרח הדבר שהלוך ילך וגדול, ובנוגע לעניננו הנה אף שהמוסד שלהם נקרא בשם ישיבה, הנה כנראה שזהו לע"ע ענין של ת"ת ולכל היותר ענין של ישיבה קטנה, ואף שבשנים הראשונות כנראה הי' סברא אצל אחדים מחברי הנהלתם, שסו"ס צריכה להעשות ישיבה, הנה משנה לשנה נשתקע הענין, ולא עוד אלא שמוצאים טעמים על טעמים אז עס לייענט זיך ניט, וכיון שהרצון מטה את השכל, הרי צומחים טעמים מטעמים שונים איך שהדבר אי אפשרי הוא.

בהשגחה פרטית הנה קבלו תלמידים מן המוכן מבני אנ"ש אשר באו מעבר לים וכן גם תלמידים בכח מבני הפליטים יראי ד' אשר באו לגור במדינתם, וכן הזמין להם השי"ת ג"כ ראשי ישיבה המתאימים להנ"ל וגם זה מבלי כל השתדלות מצדם.

... אמרתי להם בניחותא וכ " פ - איך שזהו הצלחת המוסד שלהם ובמילא צריך לנצל את ההזדמנות ובהקדם היותר אפשרי לעשות ככל האפשרי להפוך המוסד שלהם לישיבה, וקוויתי, בראותי כבר כו"כ נסים למעלה מדרך הטבע שנעשו ע"י התעוררות ר"ר מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע נשיא ישראל, אשר גם בזה יעורר ר"ר עליהם שיראו ויבינו את המצב כו' ואשר זהו אשרם והצלחתם הן של המוסד והן של חברי ההנהלה הם וב"ב שיחיו...
