Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 17 Menachem Av and, some time ago, the first two chapters of the first volume of the Beis Rebbi* in Hebrew[2], with the letter that accompanied them. No doubt you are pursuing your work[3] with the greatest possible diligence, provided this does not compromise the quality of the content. In general, the presentation of these chapters[4] is satisfactory.

You ask me who are the "two well-known elders" mentioned on page 49 of the collection of sichos*. For the moment, I do not recall having received from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, any clarification on this. You may therefore give no indication on this point[5].

When the manuscripts that remain to be sorted are put in order, some new details will surely be found there, and if an explanation on this matter is discovered, it will be added to the addenda that will then be printed.

Once again, the essential thing is that this book appear as soon as possible. The delay already incurred is amply sufficient, beyond all that is necessary, as is the reflection needed for its presentation.

מאשר הנני בזה קבלת מכתבו מי"ז מנ"א וכן נתקבל בעתו שני פרקים הראשונים מהבית רבי בלה"ק חלק א' עם מכתבו המצורף להם, ובטח ממשיך עבודתו בזה בזריזות הכי אפשרי ובלבד שלא תזיק להתוכן, ובכללות נסדרו הפרקים בטוב.

בנוגע לשאלתו מי הם שני הזקנים הידועים המובאים בספר השיחות עמוד מ"ט.

הנה לע"ע איני זוכר שאשמע זה מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ובמילא יכול להניח הדבר סתום, ובטח במשך סידור הכתבים שנשארו יתוספו בלא"ה כמה ידיעות אם יתברר אז גם ספק זה יכנס בהמילואים שיודפס אז, והעיקר כנ"ל למהר בהספר הנ"ל וכבר יצא וגם בהידור חובת העכוב וההתיישבות באופן הסידור.
