To the rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem,
Rav Michoel[1],

Greetings and blessings,

A) I have duly received your letter of the second day of Rosh Chodesh Elul, the eve of Shabbos* Teitzei. Thank you very much for the good news you tell me, that of the improvement in the state of health of the talmidim*[2] you cite in your letter. No doubt you will also give me good news of the other talmidim.

B) You speak of your efforts so that the talmidim who have the possibility may remain at the yeshivah* during the month of Tishrei. It is quite clear that what I said[3] was meant only of their own free will. It is good that you also explained it to them in this manner.

I also said that the contribution of such an initiative must be evident. Indeed, you will take advantage of this moment to use it in the spirit of Chabad. They themselves are making a sacrifice[4], and one must therefore show them that this is for their good.

Your letter seems to indicate that all this raises several difficulties on your end. In any case, you will therefore give them precise instructions[5]. Perhaps it would be good for you to spend with them at least some of the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah*. Of course, this is not comparable[6].

C) I would like to know whether spiritual support has been given to the talmidim who left.

D) As you requested, twenty kuntreisim* of the chassidic maamar* entitled "HaKadosh Baruch Hu* does not act tyrannically with His creatures" have been sent to you.

If you tell us which kuntreisim or sichos* you need, we will send them to you directly, to the extent that we have them.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches in a positive way, for us and for all Yisrael, I send to you, as well as to the members of your family, my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

מאשר הנני בזה קבלת מכתבו מבדר"ח אלול ועש"ק תצא ות"ח ת"ח על הבשו"ט מהטבת מצב בריאות התלמידים שמזכירם במכתבו ובודאי יודיע ג"כ טובות אודות שאר התלמידים שיחיו.

ב) מ"ש אודות השתדלותו שישארו התלמידים המתאימים לזה לימי חדש תשרי בהישיבה, הנה מובן בפשיטות שכוונתי היתה רק באופן שיהי' זה ברצונם הטוב, וטוב עשה שהסביר להם את הענין ג"כ באופן כזה אלא שאמרתי ג"כ שבודאי שבטוחים בהתועלת בזה אם יהי' על אתר וועט ער אויסניצען עמהם הזמן באופן המתאים לרוח חב"ד, כי כיון שאצלם זהו ענין של מס"נ צריכים להראות להם אז עס לייענט זיך דאס זיי, אבל כפי הנראה במכתבו קשור הדבר בכמה קישויים בביתו אזוי לכה"פ באווארענען במה שאפשר בהוראות מפורטות, ואולי כדאי שעכ"פ יבלה עמהם איזה ימים דעשי"ת אף שכמובן אינו דומה כו'.

ד) אתענין לדעת התלמידים שנסעו אם נתנו להם צידה רוחנית.

ה) כבקשתו נשלחו 20 קונטרסים ד"ה אין הקב"ה בא בטרוניא וכשיודיע איזה קונטרסים או שיחות נצרכים לו יושלחו באופן ישר אם רק ישנם אצלינו.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל טובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולב"ב שיחיו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
