Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter and your request for a blessing of the eve of Shabbos* Tavo. You no doubt know that the attachment of Yisrael to Hashem is bound to the Torah, to its revealed part and to its hidden teaching, as the Zohar* states, vol. 3, page 73a.

The same holds for the relation between a person and his fellow, also instituted by the Torah. Indeed, the six hundred thousand letters of the Torah correspond to the six hundred thousand Jewish neshamos*. Now, the presence of all these letters is indispensable for the Sefer Torah* to be fit for use. The kedushah* of all the others therefore depends on each letter.

You send me a request for a blessing, and you therefore surely study Chabad Chassidus*, the hidden teaching of the Torah, or else you will immediately begin to do so. It is precisely in these generations that we have had the merit of obtaining its revelation. For it concerns every Jew and is not addressed to a specific group.

May Hashem therefore grant you success. To obtain success in your study of Chabad Chassidus, you must also exert a positive influence on those around you, draw them close to this study, attract them to it. And to the effort of the person responds the help of Hashem.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches in a positive way, for us and for all Yisrael, I send you my blessing, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. You will also study Torah with yiras Shamayim*.

מאשר הנני בזה קבלת מכתבו פ"נ מעש"ק תבא, ובטח ידוע לו אשר התקשרות ישראל עם הקב"ה הוא ע"י אורייתא, גליא דאורייתא וסתים דאורייתא וכמובא בזהר ח"ג (ע"ג, א) וכן קישורו של איש הישראלי מאחד לחבירו הוא ג"כ בעיקרו ע"י התורה כי ס"ר אותיות לתורה כנגד ס"ר נשמות שהם כללות ישראל אשר בצירוף כל תיבות אלו הס"ת כשרה, ובמילא כל אות מעלית בקדש את חברתה, וכיון ששולח אלי פ"נ הרי בודאי אשר כבר לומד או עכ"פ יתחיל תיכף ללמוד תורת חסידות חב"ד סתים דאורייתא אשר זכינו להתגלותה דוקא בדורותינו אלה, והוא ענין של כל אחד ואחד מישראל ואינו שייך לכתה אחת, והשי"ת יצליחו, וכדי לעורר ג"כ סייעתא דשמיא בעסקו בתורת חסידות חב"ד הרי מוכרח שישפיע גם על סביבתו לקרבם ולהמשיכם בלימוד זה ובאתעדל"ת אתעדל"ע.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע לו ברכתי, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות ות"ת ביר"ש.
