Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter, in which you share with me the doubts and difficulties raised by your rabbinical functions. It seems to me, nevertheless, that you are being given a good proposal.

Nevertheless, you fear the influence that the surroundings might exert on you. You must therefore intensify your study of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus*, which awakens ahavas Hashem* and yiras Hashem*, indicates how to serve Him with one's heart, by submitting to Him. Thus, you will be able to overcome this nisayon* or, more generally, what appears to be one — a much more frequent situation than the actual nisayon.

Hashem will allow you to spread around you, in a fruitful way, the light of Torah and of yiras Shamayim*. Then, you will be able to influence your surroundings positively.

I am surprised that you say nothing in your letter of the fixed studies that you have of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus. No doubt you will inform me of all this on the next occasion.

נתקבל מכתבו בו מודיע אודות הספיקות והקישויים שישנם בנוגע למשרת הרבנות, ולאחכ"ז נראה בעיני הצעת המשרה נכונה אלא שכיון שחושש להשפעה עליו מצד הסביבה, צריך להוסיף בשיעוריו בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות המביאה לאהבת ה' וליראתו ולימוד העבודה בלב מתוך קבלת עול כדי שיוכל לעמוד בנסיון ובעיקר בנסיונות המדומות שהם רבים יותר מאשר אלו הנסיונות האמיתיים. והשי"ת יצליחו להפיץ בסביבתו אור התורה ויראת שמים שבד"מ ישפיע זה גם עליו.

לפלא שבמכתבו אינו מזכיר דבר ע"ד שיעוריו הקבועים בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות, ובודאי ימלא זה בהזדמנות הבאה.
