Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter informing me that you have obtained an exit authorization[1] and that you are preparing to come here. No doubt, you will undergo no external difficulty in this matter.

You surely know what I said, some time ago, to the talmidim*[2] who came from Eretz HaKodesh*. Our Sages permit one to leave that country in order to go to a place where one studies Torah. Such study must therefore, according to the Torah, be worthy of the name.

And those who belong to the community of chassidim, all the more so when they come from chassidic families, also know the definition that Chassidus* gives of the study of Torah. A saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit shall protect us, which he transmitted in the name of our holy masters, says that one must learn Torah in such a way that the Torah, in turn, delivers a teaching[3].

No doubt you take the firm decision that it will indeed be so for you.

May Hashem grant you success, so that your journey and your arrival here take place at a good and fruitful moment, that you study Torah with yiras Shamayim*.

זה עתה נתקבל מכתבו אודות קבלת היתר יציאה ואשר מתכונן לנסוע לכאן, ובודאי לא יהיו לו קישויים מבחוץ בזה.

ובטח ידוע לו תוכן שיחתי מכבר להתלמידים שבאו מאה"ק ת"ו, ע"פ פסק רז"ל שהיציאה מהארץ מותרת לתלמוד תורה, שא"כ צ"ל התלמוד תורה באופן שע"פ תורה נקרא זה בשם תלמוד תורה, וכל אלו השייכים למחנה החסידים ועאכו"כ גם מגזע חסידים חל עליהם הפסק מהו ענין ת"ת ע"פ המבואר בתורת החסידות, והנקודה בזה הוא פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בשם נשיאנו רבוה"ק זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע שהוא ילמוד תורה באופן כזה שהתורה תלמוד אותו, ובודאי מקבל עליו בהחלט גמור להתנהג מתאים להנ"ל.

והשי"ת יצליחו שתהי' הנסיעה וביאתו בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ובתלמוד תורה ביראת שמים.
