Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, which was not dated, and also to that of your wife. I would like, once again, to express to you my opinion, which I have already communicated to you. You know what I think of leaving Paris[1], particularly when one has an activity within the yeshivah*[2].

You wish to obtain my agreement to go and toil in another place, even if it is America or Canada. This is not my affair.

It would be good for you to correspond with those who settled here a few months ago. You will ask them to tell you the truth, to explain to you what is happening to them here, what they sought and what they obtained, in these few months they have spent in this place. Can they cite anything other than the fact of being in America, which, in my view, is far from being a quality, not only according to the Torah but also according to what common sense allows one to establish?

You write to me that the yeshivah does not regard your work positively. Consequently, you are not sufficiently occupied. Moreover, it is difficult to develop the yeshivah. In any case, the solution to all this is not to flee Paris and to go and toil in another place.

It is high time that all those who are bound to our holy masters make use of the strengths granted to them, and that they bring to fruition, in a sincere manner, the mission entrusted to them. Then, undoubtedly, they will know success, will have better health not only physically but also morally.

May Hashem grant that you and your wife make the decision that is truly the best for you, materially and spiritually at once.

במענה על מכתבו -בלי הוראת זמן הכתיבה -וכן על מכתב זוגתו

תחי׳ .רצוני לחזור ולהביע את דעתי שכבר כתבתי ,שדעתי אודות נסיעה

מפריז ובפרט כשקשורים בישיבה ,כבר ידועה .ומה שרוצה לקבל ממני

הסכמה לנסוע למקום אחר כדי להתענות שם ,וגם אם מדובר אודות

אמריקה או קנדה ,אין זה תפקידי.

כדאי שיתכתב עם אלו שבאו לכאן לפני חודשים ,ויבקשם שיכתבו

את האמת מה נעשה איתם כאן ,בשל מה הזדרזו ומה פעלו בחודשים

שהם נמצאים כאן ,מעבר לכך שהם יכולים לכתוב שהם נמצאים

באמריקה ,שלפי דעתי זה לא רק רחוק מכבוד על פי התורה אלא גם על

פי שכל אנושי פשוט.

מה שכותב שיחס הישיבה לעבודתו אינו כראוי ,ובמילא אין לו די

עבודה ,וגם קשה להגדיל את הישיבה ,הרי העצה לזה היא לא לברוח

מפריז ולהמשיך להתענות במקום אחר.

כבר הגיע הזמן שכל מי שיש לו שייכות לנשיאנו רבוה״ק ,ינצל את

כוחותיו ויעשה את המוטל עליו באמיתיות ,שאז ודאי יהי׳ זה בהצלחה,

ויביא הטבה בבריאות לא רק ברוחניות ,אלא ,אכן ]בהדגשה[ ,גם

בגשמיות.

והשי״ת יעזור שהוא וזוגתו תחי׳ יחליטו כפי שבאמת טוב להם

בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
