Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letters of 3 and 11 Kislev[2]. Concerning Elmaleh[3] and the newspaper, I have duly received the letter he addressed to me and the newspaper clipping that was joined to it. He tells me that he relies on me to make a denial. It seems that he had no contact with the editors of this newspaper, for he considers that they have the means to harm others with impunity.

For this reason, it is therefore preferable to have no contact with them, to the extent possible. In this case, a certain time has elapsed since the publication of this article, which, it seems, did not attract attention. For various reasons, it is therefore better to remain silent.

Obviously, I shall reply directly to his letter. Nevertheless, I evoke this subject with you, so that, if you speak to him about it again, you may argue, as you see fit, in accordance with what has just been said here.

I was satisfied with what you tell me about the teaching of shechitah*[4]. Globally, this is a good proposal. And it would be good, if it is possible, to ask the talmidim* to prepare for this by pursuing their studies, for some time, at the Yeshivah of Brunoy[5].

Indeed, various texts establish that a shochet* must have a deep yiras Hashem*. Now, this can be acquired by studying the deep teaching of the Torah — that is, Chassidus*. And this is indeed a matter of study and not simply of reading.

I shall evoke this subject with the great rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav B. E. G.[6], who has gone there. He will surely transmit to you precise instructions in this matter.

I send you a letter addressed to all[7] on the occasion of the festival of the liberation of Yud-Tes Kislev, which is approaching. You will surely spread it in the appropriate manner. It would be good to have it printed. If this is the case, you will send a few copies here, as is your habit.

שלום וברכה!

מאשר הנני בזה קבלת מכתביו מג' וי"א כסלו, ובענין אלמליח שי' והעתון, הנה קבלתי מכתב ממנו עם העתקה מקטע העתון, וכותב אלי שסומך שאכחיש הדברים וכו'.

וכנראה, שלא הי' עסק לו עם כותבים בעתונים, אשר הם שחבלו באחרים פטורים וכו'.

וטובה העדר ההתעסקות עמהם אם רק אפשרי הדבר. ובנדון דידן, כיון שכבר עבר זמן נכון מהופעת המאמר, וכנראה לא שמו לב עליו, הרי השתיקה יפה מכו"כ טעמים.

כמובן אענה להנ"ל על מכתבו ישר מכאן, וכותב הנני זה לכת"ר שי' - שבאם ידבר עמו עוה"פ עד"ז, אז ראוי שעל דעת עצמו יסביר לו את המבואר לעיל.

נהניתי ממ"ש אודות לימוד שחיטה, כי בכלל הצעה נכונה היא. ויש להתיישב בדבר, שאם באפשרי הוא - לדרוש מהם שילמדו משך זמן קודם בתו"ת בברונא בתור הכנה לזה, וע"פ המבואר בכ"מ, אשר שו"ב צ"ל ירא שמים ביותר, ולימוד פנימיות התורה - היא תורת החסידות (והדגשה בזה בתיבת לימוד ולא אמירה בעלמא), היא המביאה לירא[ה] את ה'.

ואדבר בזה עם הרה"ג הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ מוהרבא"ג שי' כיון שהי' על אתר, ובודאי יקבל ממנו הוראות פרטיות בהנ"ל.

מוסג"פ מכ' כללי לחג הגאולה י"ט כסלו הבע"ל. ובודאי יפרסמו באופן המתאים, ומה טוב להדפיסו. ואז ישלח לכאן כמנהגו איזה טופסים.
