B"H,
12 Kislev 5714,
Brooklyn,
To the distinguished chassid who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Yitzchak Aizik[1],
Greetings and blessings,
It has been a long time since I have had news of you directly, although I obtain some by inquiring of our common friends. I hope to receive joyous news of all that concerns you, to learn that you participate in the activities of the shul*. It is high time that everything there go as we have already discussed several times.
Indeed, there must be a shul in the neighborhood where you are now settling, as well as a Talmud Torah* and all that ordinarily accompanies a shul. It is a pity to lose time. The more one waits, the more complicated it will be.
I would like to point out to you another point whose moment has also come, it seems to me. It concerns the relief fund. Last year, you contributed to having this fund grant a certain subsidy to the activities of Lubavitch on the other continent. Certainly, the amount granted was well below the need and the scope of these activities. For all that, your intervention in the matter was positive, and this subsidy, at least, was able to be obtained.
According to what was planned, the meetings to allocate the budget of the relief fund for the new year are to take place now. I would therefore like to remind you of this and ask you, although it is no doubt unnecessary because you were preparing to do so, to intervene energetically, this year again, so that a subsidy may be allocated to help the work of Lubavitch, in the appropriate manner. You will surely find the adequate means to put all this into practice.
As we heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit shall protect us, when one devotes oneself to a positive accomplishment, Hashem grants success. I therefore hope that you will obtain it yourself and that you will be able to give me good news on this subject.
Even more, we are approaching the festival of the liberation of Yud-Tes Kislev, and the tradition[2] of our masters relates that the Alter Rebbe*, by his actions, was able to obtain that the chassidim, every time they devoted themselves to his accomplishments, would always know victory and success. This moment is therefore propitious for introducing your efforts in the domain that has been mentioned above. They will be crowned with success.
With my blessing on the occasion of the festival of liberation and so that your action may be fruitful,
[1] Rav I. A. Levitanski.
