Rosh Chodesh* Shevat 5714,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the great rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,

publicly disseminates Torah*, is filled with enthusiasm,

Rav Pinchas Mordechai [1],

Greetings and blessings,

Following our discussion concerning the weekly Talmud* class on the radio and the Melaveh Malkah* that will soon be organized to encourage it, I renew my blessing that Hashem confer success upon you, that you may establish this class, strengthen it, and broaden it, quantitatively and qualitatively.

Concerning certain elements appearing in an evident manner in creation, our Sages say in the Midrash Shemos Rabbah, beginning of ch. 35: "They were made for the Sanctuary of the Holy One, blessed be He," and it is only by this merit that the world can also make use of them.

How much more so when it concerns a particular and wondrous force of nature [2], whose usefulness is solely to become the instrument and the receptacle building the Sanctuary of Hashem. For since the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash*, Hashem has nothing in His world but the four cubits of halachah* [3].

Our Sages say that "the greatness of study is that it leads to action." You will consult on this subject the introduction of the Rambam's commentary on the Mishnah, evoking this teaching of our Sages: "Hashem has nothing in His world but the four cubits of halachah*." Moreover, "the beginning of wisdom is yiras Hashem*."

Consequently, I hope that you will take advantage of these radio broadcasts to expound and strengthen what concerns yiras Shamayim* and the concrete practice of mitzvos*. Indeed, "the end of all is to understand that one must fear Hashem and observe His commandments."

בהמשך לשיחתנו ע"ד שיעור דף השבוע על ידי הרדיו וסעודת המלוה מלכה לחיזוק הדבר שתתקיים בקרוב,

הנני בזה לכפול ברכתי, אשר יצליח לבסס השיעור לחזקו ולהרחיבו הן בכמות הן באיכות,

ואם בכמה דברים גלויים שבבריאה אמרז"ל שנבראו בשביל בית מקדשו של הקב"ה ורק בזכות זה גם העולם משתמש בהם (שמו"ר רפל"ה),

על אחת כמה וכמה בכח נעלם ונפלא שבטבע שמוצא תיקונו רק על ידי העשותו אמצעי כלי ומקדש לו ית', ומיום שחרב ביהמ"ק אין לו להקב"ה בעולם אלא ד' אמות של הלכה בלבד.

וע"פ פסק רז"ל גדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה (יעויין הקדמת פיה"מ להרמב"ם בביאור המאמר אין לו להקב"ה כו') וראשית חכמה יראת השם, הנני מקוה כי ישתמשו בשידור רדיו זה להדגיש ולחזק עניני יראת שמים וקיום המצוות מעשיות בפועל, וסוף דבר - הכל נשמע את האלקים ירא ואת מצוותיו שמור.
