To those who pray in the shul Beis Yosef,

in the holy city of Yerushalayim,

may Hashem accord them long life,

I greet you broadly and bless you,

I received with pleasure your letter, in which you speak to me of your annual celebration, of the Chassidic gathering that was held during the days following, in particular during the festival of Shavuos, time of the giving of our Torah. I was satisfied, in particular, to take knowledge, in your mail, of the classes that are given of the revealed part of Torah and of Chassidus*.

Hashem will accord you success, so that you have a house of prayer and of study, as our Sages explain, on the verse: "Hashem loves the gates of Tzion, more than all the dwellings of Yaakov."

The name has a specific importance, and yours is Beis Yosef, as it is said: "Hashem adds (yosef) to me another son." In fact, it is explained, in Chassidus*, that it is fitting to transform "the other" (acher) into "a son" (ben), the darkness into light. To attain this, the intellectual soul must meditate on the greatness of Hashem, until the animal soul agrees that it is indeed so.

Thus, the superiority of the darkness in relation to the light is revealed. Indeed, one can really speak of superiority, since the darkness has been transformed into light. The latter then finds itself considerably increased, including in the celestial spheres. The Chassidic discourse entitled "Ben Poras Yosef," of the Tzemach Tzedek, which is printed in Or HaTorah, page 386b, explains all that at length.

HaKadosh Baruch Hu* acts "measure for measure," but in a considerably increased manner. He will therefore intensify, to infinity, the "light," generic term that designates all the blessings and all the influences that He accords, including here below, in order to satisfy the needs, material and spiritual, of those who consecrate themselves to all that and of the members of their family.

I address to you my blessing, on the occasion of the festival of the liberation of 12-13 Tammuz, which you will surely celebrate, in the manner that befits, in your shul.

May Hashem grant that you know, in an effective manner, an immense success.

בנועם קבלתי המכתב בו כותבים אודות חגיגת יום השנה שלהם וכן ההתועדות בהימים שלאחר זה ובהם בחג השבועות זמן מתן תורתנו. וביחוד נהניתי לקרות בהמכתב אודות השיעורים הנלמדים הן בתורת הנגלה והן בתורת החסידות.

וחפץ ה' בידם יצליח אשר יהי' ביתם בית תפלה ובית לימוד וכדרז"ל על הכתוב אוהב ה' שערי ציון מכל משכנות יעקב, ושמא מילתא הוא בית יוסף, יוסף ה' לי בן אחר וביארו בתורת דא"ח אשר מאחר עושים בן כאשר מהפך מחשוכא לנהורא והוא ע"י התבוננות הנפש השכלית בגדולת ה' כו' עד שגם נה"ב מסכימה ע"ז נעשה יתרון האור מן החשך יתרון ממש כשהחשך נהפך לאור כו' שעי"ז נמשך תוספת אור לאין קץ גם למעלה וכמבואר בארוכה כ"ז בד"ה בן פורת יוסף לאדמו"ר הצ"צ (נדפס בס' אור התורה שפ"ו ע"ב) ומדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה אלא שכ"פ ככה שמוסיף אור (שזהו שם הכללי להארות והמשכות של מעלה) לאין קץ גם למטה בהמצטרך לכל המתעסקים בהנ"ל הם ובני ביתם הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.

בברכת חג הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז הבע"ל אשר בודאי יחוגו אותו באופן המתאים בבית הכנסת שלהם ויה"ר שיהי' בהצלחה מופלגה בהנוגע להבפועל.
